Made a bit of an ar$e of himself last night imo.

I am not questioning his ability or his aggression as his combative nature is what makes him so exiting. However if another player tried to stick the head on him in the tackle then i would be outraged.

I think that he will become a Wigan legend but he needs to stop the petulance.

I don't want to speak ill of the dead, but Terry Newton was like that when he was younger and unfortunetely it ended up ruining his career.
Just hope Tomkins can snap out of it....and quick!

All players try to trap the arm of a tackler and then try to stand over them at the PTB? Really?

You do see those things more often from more than just the player in question, You often see players lead with their legs in an attempt to stop the try being scored from close range, if that tactic was tried elsewhere it would almost certainly result in a penalty.

And your deluding yourself if you think players dont try to gain the advantage in the ruck by holding eachother, in defence or attack. It happens in every single game.

I just think when he does it, its a little more blatant, and he does look like one of those cheeky half backs you would love to smash.

Quote: number 6 "funny how some players like tomkins can get away milking penalties by trapping the opponents players han/arm under his body all the time, yet reece lyne did this at cardiff playin for fc against rovers and got penalised, are referees scared of penalising certain players in this act of the game'"
And Mr big hair did it for FC against Leeds and got a penalty when JJB puled his arm free and dislodged the ball.
This rule is an utter mess and needs a damn good sort out by the RFL.

He's a very good player but he does do things that are questionable. I remember him playing againgst Leeds last season ( I think ) and getting two penalties from Kevin Sinfield by play acting that he was trapped and Sinfield wouldn't release him ( does that make sense ? ).

He does manipulate referees and is therefore a cheat...

Hang on, I just read that back to myself...

I agree that this action is pretty poor, maybe a second earlier he may have prevented a try that way (under the ball), but at that point it was stupid as Morris isn't a terrible finisher like most wingers in SL - he's one of the best.

I hope he cuts it out, but I'm glad he hasn't inherited the tendency of many to slide in feet-first like many fullbacks do in desperation - that's far worse imo.

Was that the same game that Carl Ablett nearly took his head off?

Give over you pillock. You're trying to compare Terry Newton to Sam Tomkins?

Have a word with yourself.
