Despite this, I think that this tournament has shown that Steve although a genuine bloke is well and truly out of his depth. If England are to improve and to be able to even show the basics in a game (structure and pattern to their play, decent kicking game, set completion etc) then a revolution in coaching along the lines that the new coach at Wigan achieved this year is required. The players we have can play 40-60 percent better than they have, we have seen one decent performance in the last ten internationals (semi final last year v NZ). Many of the recent games have been embarrassing with little sign of any progression. Some new thinking and leadership is needed to achieve change and to restore some desperately needed credibility to the English game.
