| Quote: Barry_McKenzie "Quite right.
Saying they want to 'win it for Terry' is just another 'lets all jump on the Terry Newton train' type thing to say.
As I said earlier if they want to win it for anybody they should say they want to win it for Mike Gregory (not Andy Gregory as I mistakenly called him earlier), a man who was a far better role model for the kids and achieved far more in his life than the other bloke did.'"
got to agree with you BM, as much as i was shocked and saddened by TN death, all this lets do it for Terry etc, actually p*sses me off, why do it for him? as someone said on an earlier post, why not do it for the fans? and agreed totally on Mike Gregory, a far better role model than TN, and he fought his illness to the bitter end, whereas IMO TN took the cowards way out!
*awaits many insults, although no offence was ever intended*

| Do none of you morons consider for a moment that many of the England squad - certainly Morley - will have known Terry personally; most will have played with and against him, some might have toured with him, roomed with him, may have counted him as a friend and might actually be deeply hurt by his death on a personal level?
No? Well, to be fair, compassion generally requires more then 2 brain cells.
I'm sure if one of your friends had died less than 2 weeks ago he'd still be on your mind.
And as much respect and admiration as I have for Mike Gregory, Terry Newton is currently more relevant.

Exactly right Cronus,a lot of the current England squad would have known Terry personally and a few would of considered him a friend.

Im sure they will be, im also sure they will be questioning HIS decision to take his own life, when he had so much left to give, when others fight to stay in this world!
No? Well, to be fair, compassion generally requires more then 2 brain cells.
Compassion? i have that in abundance, having known the pain of losing people to through illness and taking thier own life, and it aint easy fella, you never quite understand why? grief quickly turns to anger, and believe me them questions stay with you every day, so dont judge me on compassion!
I'm sure if one of your friends had died less than 2 weeks ago he'd still be on your mind. Friends that iv lost 10 years ago are still on my mind, time isnt the healer its made out to be

More relevant to the people (like Adrian Morley) who are playing you fool
All of your questions and criticisms would be answered had you managed to read the article.
x
"I love Terry," said Morley. "I was really pleased I got the chance to go to his funeral.
"There is no better way to try to make him proud of us than by doing well out there and representing him.
"There are a lot in the squad for whom Terry meant a lot to so it would be a fitting way to pay tribute to him."
Thats what Adrian Morley is doing, paying tribute to a former colleague and a friend. A personal way of honouring his memory, to him. He also expects other who he knows to feel similar to do something similar. Nothing more.......
Quote: westjba "Im sure MG family would disagree with you, especially knowing thier husband/son/father fought to stay,'" Im sure they would like people to honour him either way, and im sure they would like people to pay tribute to the man for the way he lived, not the way he died.
Quote: westjba "TN family will always have unanswered questions and tormented minds, he chose to leave,'" he did, they will, and thats just sad for everyone.
Quote: westjba "all im saying is, all this tosh about doing it for TN?? just do it for the fans, the ones that actually care if you win or lose!!'" why do it for 'the fans' what have you done that is so great it deserves Adrian Morley going out there and doing it for you?
How about the players do it for themselves, they do it for their reasons and in the way they see fit? How about if Adrian Morley wants to go out there and try and give 1% extra for a friend who died we just accept its a nice gesture from him and cheer him on? Why does he need to have his reasons and motivation for playing judged by you?

For the 'way he lived'?
Not wanting to sound too harsh but he was no angel was he?

On the pitch maybe but did you know him personally? He was a gent. Ask anyone who knew him. Totally different to how he was on the pitch.
I cant actually understand why people are complaining about this. A rugby player says he wants to win the 4 Nations in rememberance of his mate who died a couple of weeks a go.
Whats the problem?

I doubt whether the Krays played RL either.
But here are a few comments I've found online that people have said about the convicted murderers
[i "Salt of the earth, the twins; never the slightest trouble to anyone who knew how to handle them." "If there was anything to be done in school, they'd be utterly co-operative… they'd always be the first to help. Nothing was too much trouble."[/i
[i'Thats one fing ill say abahhht the twins... they only killed their own'[/i
[i'Gawww ... they loved their muvvah Gawd' bless 'em'[/i
[i'They was both Gentlemen... both of 'em'[/i
[i'Least you could leave your back door unlocked when the Krays lived round here'[/i
[i'The twins was totally different when you got to know 'em'
