Its the roof! I hate the roof! Its an impressive structure, but it slopes the wrong way. By sloping downwards towards the pitch it blocks your view of the other stands and prevents the sound of the crowd from travelling properly. I'm not a fan of New Wembley, but the positive is that you can see all the crowd no matter where you sit and the structure acts like an ampitheatre. When OT eventually get round to extending the South Stand I hope they also begin to consider a new roof.

You're bang on mate. Why it doesn't either slope the other way or is flat i'll never know.

I would imagine its because when they first built the North Stand it was so much taller than the rest of the stands. The architects would have wanted to ensure that supporters up there didn't experience the full brunt of icy winter winds in their face and also to try and contain the noise levels that spill out of the stadium into the neighbouring residential area that the North Stand faces.

United have said that they 'don't want to stand still' with the development of the stadium. I would imagine plans to build over the train line to extend the South Stand will emerge soon. Once they have bowl shape and 100k capacity my suggestion for the next step would be an enormous fixed transparent domed roof and a retractable pitch that slides under of stands and out of the stadium when not in use!!

North stand is also south facing; think of all those 10:30am kick offs so India can watch live on TV and all those fans in the stadium who'd have the sun in their eyes were it not for the roof.

I've been to the last 4 grand finals, it's great that i'll actually get to see my side there this year, can't wait

sat in all but the east stand over the years, and remember thinking how horrible it would be to be right in the top tier of the North

but last year i was in the 3rd tier of the North Stand and i was pleasantly surprised at how good the view was, and i'm not too fussed my seats are up there again this year.

Wire exiled in Hampshire:

Sky confirmed on SSN earlier that Wigan have sold the 12,000 allocation.

Good news. A full Old Trafford, a derby between two of the most successful teams in the sport...exactly what the sport needs.

why only 12,000 for the biggest game of the season, what happens to the rest of the 50,000 ticket guess there on sale from the rfl ??

The RFL have shifted 45,000 so there's your answer - think it's to avoid setting aside 20,000+ tickets for each finalist and then Catalans get there etc.

I agree, I've been in there twice and enjoyed one experience but not the other. When I was at the front, the last Saints-Wigan it was good, get a decent on top view of the match.

However the back row was poor. It felt like you were in a room away from the match somewhere. Plus when he have the idiots constantly blowing those horns it reflects off the roof. It's just an odd view for a match not being able to see the rest of the stadium.

To be fair ashton, garswood, billinge and leigh have wigan postcodes and a lot of people in those areas would be saints fans so doesnt really mean much if thats what going off. Plus if it was saints v wire final would say all wire fans as St Helens has a WA postcode!

But it is South facing...

If you don't believe me, check the photo on google maps.

The North stand is the one without a railway line running at the back of it. It's at the North of the ground, so fans in it will be facing South to look at the pitch...

Thats what i was to say.

We live in Laffak and its a Warrington postcode and I'm from Oldham which lends its postcode to the whole of Rochdale-so not exactly an accurate representation!
