simpsons/PDT13.gif Brad Fitler "If the ref's decision decides your game. You haven't done enough prior."
Referees are like women, they make snap decisions and never reverse them.
Littlerich wrote Widnes will be glad to get away from Leigh. They've been regularly pumped, roasted and left in the alley-way by the lobbygobblers. Talk about being bitched - what a torrid time they've had. They'll be looking for some A&E rest time for the next three years at least.:simpsons/PDT13.gif |

"Bradford Northern player" - that whole commentary from Darrell Eastlake is a poem, especially with Jack Gibson as his co-commentator and Ray French on the sideline.
Also Ray French's 'Mal Meninga this 15 stone Brisbane policeman' is genius. Any variant that involves a players weight, height, occupation or amateur club deserves an honourable mention as well.

I thought it was Widnes?

Wakefield turn over a big club every season and i see no reason why Widnes can't do the same.
:7294.jpg |

On that theme it was drummed into me from an early age (a bit like the times tables) that John Holdsworth was from Kippax in West Yorkshire!

| unless you're a saints fan, you're unlikely to remember this one, but it is my earliest memory of commentary from a match involving my team:
"Tony Burke!...he took everybody by surprise, I think including himself"
prize for anyone who can name the game and who scored the match winning try moments later

| Definitely one of Waring's most memorable commentaries is his excitement at GB/Hull KR wing Young scoring that try against us Aussies in the 1967 1st Test at Headingley.
"Bill Holliday...watch the interceptions...oh he's got...can Young go past, can Young go, can Young beat Johns, can Young beat Johns...Ah he goes around the posts...for a bashing* try." (the last bit nearly one word)
Gets your blood up even as an Aussie...a truly great commentator despite, or perhaps because of, the attacks on him.
* still don't know what this means or whether it was "smashing"?

From the same game
EW excitedly "HE'S IN, HE'S IN" then almost crying in to his mic "in touch" as another Leeds attack fails.

| A few from Raymondo....
"Every time we come to Headingley there is a dog on the pitch. Why oh why people bring dogs to Rugby games, I'll never know"
"And there we see the sad sight of Martin Offiah limping off with a broken finger."
"Well Joe, in today's game it's all about pasta and enzymes, when I played we only had a segment of orange".
