| Quote: crucrucrusaders "What winds me up most in all of this is that Leighton Samuel has now sold the club and most of the people responsible for making the mistakes regarding Visa's are no longer at the club and have moved on. The new owners got the fine that was dished out and the fans, who had no influence over the decision to bring lads over on dodgy Visa's, seem to be the ones that have it dragged up time and again. I don't care either way whether people bring it up but I think the problem lies with the RFL and the people at Crusaders at the time rather than anybody currently at the club (well maybe one) and there is nothing the new owners or the fans could have done to change that.'"
Make that ALL the people responsible are now no longer with the club (three people my reckoning).
But onwards and upwards. It's been a great start to the season so far and while we should milk this with the media non-stop while it lasts, we know that there are tougher opposition out there. Anthony Seibold is doing a great job and you can see the improvement all the time. I don't think a top seven play-off place is out of our reach as the lads are committing themselves in every game. Hunslet on Easter Monday at The Gnoll will be very interesting indeed and I advise everyone who can to get down there, should be a stern test.

| Quote: Dico "Fair post Grendel and it could be a problem for the next year or two although if the Scorps were winning regularly and building a profile you'd hope there would be some better union converts or 16/17 year olds approached.
You're not telling me that the players playing there now are the best young guys in south wales. Hopefully with an increased Welsh interest there'd be more and more talented guys looking to pick it up'"
I'd have to say that I think the players in the Scorps ARE the best players available to us in S Wales at the moment. There are a few (Elliot Kear springs most readily to mind) who are better at The Crusaders, but are not reguarly available to us. There are plenty of players at C1 and conference level around, but I think at CC if we wanted to Welsh-out the team, we'd need to be looking to bring in "ex-pats" currently playing for English clubs, or just keep building on the lads we have and looking for talented converts.
The support network is there, just not quite at the higher levels yet.

| I watched them play York and the Scorpions played very very well, the game against Hunslet will be a good test, as they did catch York on a bit of an off day, if they can mix it with York Hunslet and Blackpool who are by far the strongest teams in C1 then they will do very well. I see a big future for them.

| The players in the Championship are far fitter, faster, stronger and more skilful than Championship 1. And i'd say the gap is widening fast, as Keighley and Dewsbury are far superior sides to the Gateshead and Doncaster teams that went down last time around.'" ]
The standard will and must improve in C1, crowds in the Championship are looking very healthy on the whole but C1 Crowds have dropped alarmingly, which must be addressed. It's always difficult for promoted teams but you've always got to aspire to be the best you can or what's the point of bothering?

| Yes another good crowd, The Scorpions got brough down to earth a little bit by Hunslet and have another very tricky fixture next week against Oldham. Still credit where credit due they are doing very very well so far this season and look to be building firm foundations for future success.

| Crowds like that must be bringing money into the coffers at that level.
I bet they took nearly 5 grand in tickets the other day.

| I think they only charge a fiver to get in. The emphisis is upon building a good fan base first.

| £8 it is but I don't know what freebies get given out.
Their twitter and facebook pages are really active and they know how to put themselves about. They're on the radio regularly it would seem.

simpsons/PDT13.gif Brad Fitler "If the ref's decision decides your game. You haven't done enough prior."
Referees are like women, they make snap decisions and never reverse them.
Littlerich wrote Widnes will be glad to get away from Leigh. They've been regularly pumped, roasted and left in the alley-way by the lobbygobblers. Talk about being bitched - what a torrid time they've had. They'll be looking for some A&E rest time for the next three years at least.:simpsons/PDT13.gif |

| Quote: Wire In The Final "Perhaps when Widnes went into Administration, they should have been dropped to one of the lower leagues. Would have been saved the moaning from their fans that they didn't get into Super League, despite neither contesting the Grand Final nor having a sound financial footing.'"
GF 06&07, NR Cup 07&09. We've had a pretty decent success, we also had a fairly sound financial footing the year the franchises were announced.

We're on tonight in fact, for an hour. Listen into www.realradiowales.co.uk from 6pm to 7pm and phone 0845 1052106 if you want to call in and chat.
The radio ads on Nation Radio and Bay Radio are going really well. We did some schools work before Easter with the RFL community vouchers (adult and a child for a fiver) and have got a good few back. 10% of the London Skolars crowd came in on this. We've followed this up with a further offer for all those who took it up.
We've made a point of not giving out freebies. I've had it taught to me that people value the occasion more if they have to pay, even if it's only a fiver.
Things are going well but it's a hard graft.

That is what success is built upon. Well done CC (Cardiff Cymru I mean - not Celtic Crusaders) . Keep up the hard work, it will come good with dedication like yours.

| Is Cardiff involved with the club?
Like I said before, they seem to be doing a great job, building solid foundations from the ground up.
