Personally, as much as I want to see the game expand and develop in this country, I think that Crus promotion to SL was at the wrong time. Too much too soon perhaps. I think they'd have been better served with 3 years in NL1 building the club, the team and the brand so they would be a stronger position for SL at the next round of francising.

I doubt very much that this supposed merger with Widnes is anything more than the fevered dreams of a couple of chemics with nothing better to do.

The move to Wrexham, however, may be a bonus for Crus as it brings them closer to the heartland of the game which should see an increase in crowds (something that many on this board seem to think is the only evidence of expansion)

True they may not be pivy to this. I remember HKR through and through legend Stanley Gene signing for gateshead. Only to be told weeks later he would be playing for Hull FC.

I am just being realistic. The way our club has been run by the idiots in charge is nothing short of disgraceful. If we stay in South Wales under better ownership I am confident rugby league would not only survive but grow more and at a quicker rate than most other clubs in Super League and rugby league as a whole. Bold statement I know but we have gone from no rugby league club fans to over 3,600 in just 4 years. That is with a team that came bottom with 3 wins in 28 competitive games last season. I know a lot of those were away fans but take the Hull FC and Saints matches into account and a successful team would draw crowds no doubt.

Money was spent in the wrong areas and the wrong people were brought in to do jobs and were out of their depth. I honestly think that if the right people were on board we would produce players, grow a fan base and build a long term sustainable club down here. If Crusaders go under, which I am sure we will do if we move to Wrexham, then I hope we can build a more solid base than having to rely on one bloke that when he gets fed up and walks away leaves us in this kind of predicament.

As I say it is not the cocky falling, it is somebody being a realist and trying to share information or strong rumour from down this end that people may not know of.

It might be people panicing, putting 2 and 2 together and getting 7 but it wouldn't be totally incomprehendable and if the RFL want us out and have run out of patience it might be a way of saving face in their twisted logic to merge teams rather than boot us out and say it hasn't worked.

Let's let bygones be just that and let's not worry about who has posted what, etc.. For whatever has gone on, we have fellow RL fans in Wales who have no idea what is happening to their club. We (ie Widnes) have been there a few times in my lifetime, so we know roughly how these guys feel.

I'd love them to find a Steve O'Connor style character down there to sort them all out and continue in SL based on South Wales. Is there ANY chance at all of that? I guess that's what everyone is hoping for and why noone has announced anything official.

One things for sure, a merger with Widnes wouldn't be good or credible. Widnes have got a squad, kit, sold season tickets, etc... for next year. If Celtic do go to the wall, better to run SL a team short for a year and use the Bye as in Oz. (Make sure all fans are refunded for tickets from the Sky allocation). It's just far too late for me in the pre-season to make a change of such magnitude. (If I win £26 million on Euro Millions at the weekend I'll bail them out and take over!).
