Bridgend rfc had money problems they asked true die hard supporters to dig deep and buy a 3 yr season ticket most did 1 yr down the line LS came in people with 2yrs left on season tickets he wouldnt honour so that peeved supporters off
lost about 500 supporters
then came the celtic warriors crowds of 1500 to 4000 most games
what did he do got rid of them peeved off more supporters
so when CC started up why do you think people in bridgend/s wales dont trust him and he got no support nowt to do with CC one man LS
the new team thats starting up will have nothing to do with him and never will so imo i would say the new team will get an anything from 400 upwards a game but i thing about 700/1000 would be more like it

Bit of a joke, they can't sustain one team, now they want to add another? Sounds like politics to me and I would suggest the RFL tell them to get their act sorted out in Sth Wales before they consider any thing else from that part of the world.

It's brilliant news that all that great effort in South Wales will not be wasted. Any club name and Website yet? I for one wish them all the success and will definately buy a replica strip when available.

I remember our first trip to Bridgend a couple of years ago. On speaking to quite a few locals tehy all stated that they would never support a team that L.S. was part of. Due to the bad feeling towards him from his past endeavors. Hopefully this could be the making of RL in south Wales. The locals no longer have a reason not to support the local team. Lets see how this unfolds. How can a new team not be a good thing for RL?

At SL level yes, but they have a ready made C1 team of Welsh players from the old Crusaders reserves and a ready made fan base of disgruntled Crusaders fans. Should be easily sustainable at C1 and hopefully in 3-5 years they could move up to the Championship with locals, though only if they can viably do this.

Its great news that we ould have another new club soon in south wales, imagine that alot of crusaders fans will switch to the new club which means that along with the fact there will be a good few crusaders lads in the reserves willing to make the switch, they can hit the ground running for players and fans.

On the negative side this does make the crusaders move to north wales seem certain which is a shame, but if both clubs can come out of this stronger that can only be good for rl.

But Crusaders wouldn't if they moved north and as suggested on here, lose fans and young players to a new team?

I'm all for a new team in Championship 1, I wish them well.

There is of course that worry, but i will see what the new plans are before i prejudge them.

What this would mean is that the Welsh SL club will only last another 2 seasons at most , unless the backers are willing to tip in a huge amount of money

When the problems of the Crusaders first came to light I was quite happy for the RFL to guarantee their continued participation in SL even to the point of the RFL taking ' ownership ' of the club if neccessary and financing it for 2 or possibly even 5 years , I would only have accepted this if they had remained in South Wales

However if a new Championship club was to be set up in that area I would prefer that club to get help from the RFL to continue the development work already started

A Wrexham based organisation would have to stand alone if support was to be given to the South , IMO
