| Perhaps if we had invested some of the tv money in building a stadium instead of paying over the hill players large contract we could have had our own ground with regular fixtures played at the same time every year...who knows people may get use to turning up...just a thought but you lot would sooner play daft money to players

| We were in the John Charles stand. I thought the stand was shambolic. There isn't enough spill out area under the stand, the internal access route up stairs is too small and vormitories are also too small. Stewards were too heavy handed - basically mauling every person for their ticket before they could sit down. These factors caused a ridiculous bottle neck of people under the stand at the beginning of the game. I went to an adjacent vormitory to get to my seat and was told to go back to the bottle neck as this is where my ticket stipulatged I should go. I explained the situation and said it was creating a health safety issue, but was laughed at by the steward and told to go to the other vormitory.
Also, we couldn't take alcohol on the stand - no respect for rugby fans. Then again this didn't matter because they ran out of lager half an hour before kick off.
I read the top tier of the largest stand was out of use, as the council has health and safety concerns about it.
Dated, shabby and badly run, not to mention geographically poorly positioned as far as transport access is concerned. Eastlands is the best option for me with Anfield, Reebok and Hillsborough close behind. The Don Valley would even be better!

Bang right...i thought the same going in last night.....how that place was once a premier soccer venue i dont know.....and its a surprise you dont have riots with soccer hooligans in that ground the way everyone is ram raided in. When we went through the turnstyles you could bearly get through as everyone was queing en mass to get up to the concourse. one or two pushes and you could eaisly get a crush scenario in there. YOu wouldnt think it would be allowed in this day and age but elland road is a concern.....i would dread to go to a soccer game there as one ounce of trouble under the concourse could lead to some serious inkuries or worse!

I study events management, so I have some understanding of the legalities of venues. So, what I don't understand is how this stand is legal. A Vormitory needs to be at least two people wide, but they clearly aren't in this stand. The access routes in the stand again should be of a similar width, but they clearly weren't. Best practice is to have two stewards to each Vormitory, but there were more than this on each one. With four to five stewards on each vorm and their heavy handed approach of checking tickets it made getting people to their seats very difficult.
My concern was if there was a need to evacuate the stand in an emergency. Not only would it be difficult to get people off the stand, but if it happened when there was the bottle neck god knows what would happen; you have one large group of increasingly agitated fans going one way and a another jumpy set going another way, access routes that are far too small and stewarding practices that I don't believe are up to scratch.
The RFL come down on clubs like Trin, Cas and Salford about their facilities, but for one of their showpiece games they decide that it should be held at a dire venue, the only merit of which is that it is in Leeds and its big. I don't believe this is fair on the spectators.

| I think eastlands should be considered in the future.
seats 50,000, no pillars to peer round, plenty of parking around the ground
modern, and i think its council owned
Sat in all four stands at elland road over the years and the east stand aside it isn't up to scratch for a major final anymore

Well, liverpool & man utd are in the red, man city no doubt have bills to pay, who says they wouldnt host it?
Im pretty certain these club have held rock concerts there in the past and let thousands of fans onto the (granted covered) playing surface in the summer, yet they wouldnt for 80 minutes of rugby in november?

Have you spoken to all these clubs to get this information?
Man United seem quite content to have Rugby on their pitch only 5 weeks before and are quite happy to take the money then. Man City's Eastlands ground is also owned by the council, and was largely funded by the taxpayer, as far as I am aware. Liverpool aren't exactly flush with cash at the moment either and need every penny that they can get for their new ground.

Funny as it may seem, yes I did, two seasons ago when we had the same stupid debate.
Man Utd have a contract with the RFL, if it were down to the football side of the club they'd tear that up too.
No football club wants RL played on their pitch in the middle of November, the pitch is gonna get a hammering and if the weather closes in then it causes mayhem for the ground staff, a hugely different than having a concert there during the summer with the pitch covered.

It's straight off the motorway in the middle of the heartlands, how is that geographically poor?!

| I found the seats in the Revie stand very uncomfortable indeed, not to mention the farce we had getting our seats due to the rows been lettered wrong.
i had the bloke who was in the seat in front of me virtually sat on my lap everytime someone on his row wanted to go to the loo/bar and when someone on our row needed to get out i almost had to stand on my seat to let them through.
good for atmosphere, e for comfort i thought.
