If it ain't broke, don't fix it, so Hall, Shenton and Ellis to stay on the left. Briscoe to stay at fb, Tomkins to retain a place in the halfs with Mcguire or Myler (an either/or, for me - I'd prefer Brough, if he was available). On right, move Peacock to prop, play Westwood in SR, Eastmond at centre and whoever out of T.Briscoe/Fox/Smith who has the most confidence/form left.
The pack wasn't bad. With Westwood starting, maybe put Wilkin on the bench in place of Graham/Morley (with Burgess starting), for balance???? Crabtree to keeping his place on the bench. Or play Burgess at LF, Sinfield at hooker, with Roby filling Eastmond's spot on the bench?

The major changes have got to be taking Peacock out of the second row and the defensive line down the right.

The rest is much of a muchness. Brisoe or Smith at full back isn't going to be a major change, but if you take Smith out of centre who goes there? Eastmond isn't the answer for more than 10-15 minutes, they'll just target him and run over him. Smith there with the cover of Westwood in the second row defending next to him would be a better option.

I'd leave McGuire and Tomkins as the half backs, Myler in his last two games hasn't shown as much as Tomkins did in the second half against the Aussies and the consistency may do them good.

Peacock didn't defend on the right when he was on the field in his first spell, Sinfield defended one in from the centre on that right hand side where you would expect the second row to be, with Peacock defending more centrally.

Then I'd move him out of the way, I thought Sinfield had a poor first half in general, he looked much better at dummy half swapping with Roby in the second. His positional change also seemed to spark up McGuire who looked better in the second half combining more with Tomkins.

But it is broken. Very, very broken, to the point that it's irreparable with the tools we have available.

I'd play Bridge, i think defensively he is a better option than Smith. Plus Ellis should stay in the forwards

When I've seen him play he's always been a solid defender. Not a Sts fan, so I guess I can only say that in the big games that I have seen him play he defends well.

I'd have Smith at full-back. Its always been his best position and he offers more attacking threat than Briscoe, who to me is Wellens mark II - solid but unspectacular.

Who to play at centre? I'd go Ellis. I know he is better in the forwards but he is probably the best option in the team. That said, I'd be wishing I'd have included a certain Mr Senior if I were Smith, as the hole at this position is huge.

Agreed I think Bridge is pretty good defensively but also good with ball in hand
