gleeson has shown signs of class for wigan since he has signed, particularly against hull kr in the playoffs. his defence has really impressed me since he came to us, i never had him down as a big defender but the defensive work he has done for us has been awesome. id still of had him in the england squad as the opposite centre to shenton, hes performed on the international stage in the past and im sure he could perform again. |

Gleeson's decline can be traced back to his last season at Warrington when he started playing closer to the middle of the park rather than out in the centres, almost as a stand-off/loose forward hybrid.
Took away his big advantages, which are one-on-one footwork and sleight of hand.

It more the case that they are the most inexperianced; time will tell whether they are the poorest.
I'd personally gone with experiance in the centres but we can't slag guys off wothout seeing them attmept to play at this level.

McGuire and Sinfields last chance for me at international level, both good Super League players but dont perform at a higher level their field kicking, in the past, has been absymal! they have got to run Slater about with short then long kicks otherwise it'll be ................... ops! ![]()

I am a big fan of KS; he destroyed us in the GF.
However, he is not good enough to play loose against the cons. Tony Smith is probably hoping he will plat his Leeds hybrid game as an extra stand off cum loose. If this goes wrong he will end up as a spare part and it will go very badly wrong.
My other fear is that TS will aks him to do some of the hooking which has been tried before under Nobby against the cons in 2002 in the infamous record defeat disaster "one off" mid season test in Ozland.
For what its worth I think Watmough is nothing to fear as Pritchard showed against him last week. |
