every year RL generates 4 of the top 10 most watched programs each year
its what being a big sport means.
think soccer in england, thats not far off where RL is for 55% of australia |

You have to be careful with the ratings because everyone that releases TV ratings figures is doing it for a reason.
The AFL said they out rated the NRL last year for the GF's. They didn't take into account regional ratings however, when all ratings were taken into account the nRL GF had more viewers.

Keep in mind Rugby League is dominant in the 1st and 3rd biggest TV markets in Australia.
The GF and Origins rate very well in Melbourne as well.
From there I'm not sure what the market breakdown is. |

| To be fair I'm not sure where Dico is from but it is suprising to anyone from the UK to realise just how big RL is in Aus (well NSW and Queensland) without seeing it firsthand, it's certainly shocked me, in a good way though! 
Coming from the UK it's so refreshing not to see Association Football and the prima donna stars plastered all over the media! |

55% of australia actually.
and as ive said before, every year we have all 3 origins plus the grand final making the top 10 most watched programs.
RL is massive on TV here.
every game is on TV, most of them live.
we have RL shows or games EVERY day here.
ie monday there is 4.5 hours of it
tuesday 1 hour show
wed - 1 hour show
thurs - 3 hour show
friday - 4 hours of games
sat - 6 hours of games excluding replays
sunday 4 hours of games.
each week RL gets combined TV ratings of around 4 - 5 million
then each origin game gets 3 - 3.3 million viewers plus tests etc. |
