What happened when Long got injured interfering with play from Newton? IIRC Newton got a hefty ban - much more than the usual for a poor tackle.

He will only get a 1 game ban minimum then. There is no way the RFL will allow a Saints player to miss those crucial games. The saints injury crisis will also be taken into account!

I am reading a book on the Foreman and Ali fight in 1974, and Ali's trainer was of the view that you can absorb any punch that you can see coming, and that's why Ali trained just on taking punches. His trainer said that it's the punches that you don't see coming that cause the knockouts, as the recipient has no time to protect himself. If it had been a big swinging punch, Stosic would have had time to move his head to absorb some of the blow. The fact that Stosic was over Cunningham would have made it less likely that his head would move back, and therefore the bones in his face took the full force of a punch from a physically strong athlete.

Just seen it on Super League show. Was a very cheap shot, but I don't think the intent was to deliberately hurt him. Think he'll get away with a one/two match ban to be honest.
