I can't speak for him/them, but unless whatever comp Northhampton play in is the best in the world, i'd say no. Put yourself in their position. You admire the best rugby league comp in the world and want to have some attachment to it. You've got no solid links to any NRL club, so you look for something obvious to help your decision. They both wear red and white and are both commonly referred to as "The Saints".

I see where you are coming from matey.
Guess I just don't really get how someone could go for a club just because they have a similar name or shirt to another one.
St Helens and St George Illawarra have similar shirts and both start with 'St'. But thats where the similarity ends
I suppose its no different to people supporting Man Utd who would have difficulty pointing Manchester out on the map though

The have a fair few SL clubs shirts in Mick Simmons in Sydney! whether they actually sell or not is another matter!!
I also find it strange that NRL jerseys are actually cheaper to buy in England than they are in Australia!

They had the Wigan and Bradford 08 shirts in but they didnt seem to sell any. They dont have any Superleague jerseys at the moment, maybe they ahve learnt their lesson.
Yea i dont understand how NRL jerseys are cheaper in the UK, both my home and away Roosters 09 and NSW 09 Origin jersey came from downunder leisure in Wigan. When my familt came to visit they brough me them over aswell as a few t-shirts and training tops, all cheap there then in Aus....

| I have a mate who moved to Sydney about 8 years ago and he is now a Roosters member, so they are now my preffered NRL team. I was at the 2004 GF and managed to get to see them last April at Penrith, as well as a few other random games......also have a soft spot for Manly

Probably same reason you won't see many in Australia! If the people in their own suburb don't like them what chance an international fanbase?

| Quote: Barry_McKenzie "A cursory glance around any superleague fixture reveals quite a few English people wearing NRL club shirts.
North Queensland Cowboys, St George Illawarra and Brisbane Broncos seem the most popular from what I've seen.
I'd be interested to find out what makes your average bloke from Hull, St Helens or any other northern English town or city support a particular NRL club. Why would anyone from Hull support Melbourne Storm??? Why would anyone from Wigan support St George???
Interestingly enough I don't recall seeing any Aussie footy fans proudly sporting the latest Castleford, Wigan or St Helens jumper at an NRL match.
Do you think this is just because so many NRL jumpers are listed on ebay these days??? Are they better quality??? Is it because the colours are nicer??? Is it because you think the NRL is better than Superleague???'"
As an Hull FC fan Parramatta became my team after Sterlo's time at our club. Then in 1987 My cousin went over to Aus for a season to play RL and brought me back a Parramatta jacket. They are the first team who's result I always look for first and read their reports if I have not seen the game. I like to watch the NRL ingerneral purly because it's RL.
When I went to Aus in 2000 I wished I had taken a case full of Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal shirts. I would have made a killing in the many bars of Sydney and Cairns that I went into. So I suppose we could turn your question around and ask why does the average Aussie support English premier league sides?

| Suppose ill join in even though im sure we had a 10+ page thread in the off season on the same thing
I met a girl in the Gong back in 02 and she supported the Dogs. Since then I have been a Dogs supporter and will always be. It also helps that one of my best mates is from Bankstown and is a Dogs supporter too.
In fact these days I see more of the Bulldogs than I do of Leeds so id call them my 1st team now.

| Wests for me for no other reason than the first ever league game I went to was Balmain Vs North Sydney in June 1988...
Can't honestly even remember who won (I think it was the Tigers).
I guess having Paaat playing at The Piedome helps with the allegiance too :0)
