| I don't think many Hull fans would pick out Calderwood as a problem in the side. His effort from marker, chasing kicks and desire to get his hands on the ball, (mainly in our own 20 ) are unquestionable.
Due to his stature, his defence is never going to be as strong as a winger twice his size, but he makes up for it in other ways. Over the last six years we've had Colin Best, Blacklock and Sing on that wing, none of whom where man mountains. The problem is that he never gets the ball in dangerous areas.
It's obvious what we need; A new coaching set up from top to bottom, a scrum half (even a mediocre one like Robinson would make all the difference), a big prop forward, centre, a leader (perhaps Fitzgibbon will fill this void?).

So tell me Einstein, which clubs do you know of who have had the same level of support in a lower league than they get in the top flight? I don't suppose you could tell me FC's average gate in 1999?

The guy is pure garbage. He makes Francis Meli seem average'"
So your judging it on 1 performnce you have seen him "live".
This from a fan of a team who has the world beating Ade Gardner.

| I felt for Richard Horne last night - he is without doubt a quality player but he's holding back the tide like King Canute in that Hull side at the minute.
Hull need to give Danny Houghton an extended run at hooker and partner Horne with Berrigan in the halves. With Carvell gone and Manu injured there's no-one to break tackles when Thackray is off the field.
The rest of the side can be built around the foundation of an explosive ball carrier and an organiser at 7.

| I criticised him for throwing a tantrum yesterday, but putting that aside he is a very good winger. Similar in attacking style to Raynor, and gives opposition fans a feeling of nervousness if he gets the slightest bit of space.
Also he's made a couple of great assists with his kicking game. Defence might not be his strong suit, but was Offiah ever marked down as a bad winger on that basis?

| Hull FC are a good side playing with no confidence at all eg Warrington.
i think that the side they have is a good one and maybe just a tweek here and there would make a vast difference and a decent fullback Thorman looks terrible not a patch on his fartown form

We commented last night that Calderwood made one of his trademark 3 tackles from marker, which we saw many times over the years whilst he was at Leeds. He also looked dangerous the last time I saw him play, at Murrayfield, where unlike Noble the coach had realised he's a bit good at the old kick chase.
Yes, he's got faults in his game, but there are far, far bigger problems at Hull, as has already been alluded to.

| New coach and a scrum half to partner Horne would go a long way to solving our current problems.
Calderwood has been very good for us this season.

| Quote: Horne = Full back "That is probably one of the most retarded replies i've ever read on these forums. Go back to Apollo and play on the 'fun day' bouncy castle you idiot!
I see it's half term. Tell me why my post was retarded? I quoted the person I did, as he "claims" he knows what is going on with Dobson, which he clearly doesn't. He was trying to get a rise out of the Rover's supporters, on a thread that is supposed to be about Hull FC.
Then I answered the OP question by saying that imo Orford wouldn't change much at the moment. Granted he is a quality player, but, as I said, the rot in your club starts from the top.
Your board is penny pinching and clueless and you have a coach that could not and would not get the best out of Orford. Case in point, Sean Berrigan, not quite the player he used to be is he?
