| Quote: Durham Giant "transcript of conversation between Brough and Kear
Brough, ' am not going to grow a beard i will look like a neanderthal',
Kear , ' but that is better than looking like cro magnon man with that forehead',
Brough ,' but that will be a retrograde step off about 190,00 years'
Kear, ' well what did you expect when you came to wakefield, it was hardly a step forward,
Brough shrugs his shoulders.
Brough, 'i will grow a beard when you grow some hair on your head'.
Kear, ' you have gone too far now, you're dropped'.'"

Which is a completely reasonable way to deal with that, so why not state the reason?

Because someone at Belle Vue thought a vague statement would be good enough and not cause idle and groundless speculation.
One step forward, two steps back.

£266 a can....... Don't know about you, but I would have thought a £500 fine (going to charity) and a public apology would have been a better way to deal with this...IMO.

I dunno about you but I don't see what the hoohaa about having a beer on a long coach journey is, after you have just battered your body. One away day playing at uni, we had a few hours to fill (Cardiff to Liverpool) so "raided" the student shop at UWIC, cleaned the fridges out and got absolutely smashed together to celebrate defeat.
It is all part of the banter and fun of a team sport.
To add to the fact that the coach said not one thing while he did it.
A lot of this sounds like "I'm off at the end of the season" sourness.

| It does seem very excessive, 3 pints isn't a lot really I could understand the fuss if he had been drinking on the way to the game but after then game I don't see the problem - although we are of course assuming that this is the whole story and not just his side of it I guess.

IF Wakefield are prepared to let their players "agents or relatives" openly discuss internal disciplinary issues, then they may as well throw in the towel now. I can see this getting worse for Sculthorpe. If he has been hauled over the coals and warned about this, then any resultant publicity could mean further sanctions against him

| well it is one of the few times you get to find out whata players salary is.
one weeks pay ( fine ) is £1600 so his salary i am sure goes over 52 weeks puts him on £83,200. p.a.
Not bad when you spend 3/4 of the week getting massages and physio and watching a game from the stands becuase you are injured

jeesus, who says the salary cap is holding back the earning potential of players when chumps like Danny Sculthorpe are earning that much.

In fact, he could be on more if £1600 is what he gets in his pocket???
