| I'd have thought in SL that if you averaged over 7000ish then you could be pretty much at the cap without an overly wealthy backer with too much input. The amounts needed are nowhere near that of the NRL clubs.
Again, could be wrong.

Cas averaged 7500 last year, and spent about 1.1 million.

| hmm but the extra 300k would take you to 1.4 mill.
It might need to be 8500 then but either way you could run a decent club on that without the need for a director putting a fortune in.
Plus I bet Cas spend a lot on ground maintenence like Saints do.
Can't remember what they were but saints announced their figures a few months ago and i remember being quite astonished at what it costs them to keep KR in a health certificate.

I believe cas will be spending 1.35 million this year with an aim of spending full cap next year though the economy may alter those plans somewhat.

This info is for the year ending Nov 2007, so is a little out of date, but should still prove interesting reading for people on this thread:
www.warringtonwolves.org/news/Wolves38519.ink
Basically, Warrington's Income for 2007 was £4.873m and Expenditure was £4.775m - so an operating profit of £98k.

interesting to see such a frank breakdown of income and costs, don't quite know what the 700k 'other' bit can be though?
and surprised they aren't selling a bit more merchandise, as I know Hull broke the Million £ barrier for merchandise last year, and Warringtons crowds aren't that much smaller than ours.

i guess a bit higher.
les cats got a bit higher than that and still needed outside money.
it does depend on sponsorship, rent at ground etc but id guess 8500 - 9000.
the NRL it seems to be 17,000 - 20,000

| one of the problems is that there is vat (15%) on all income but the highest expenses, wages, is not subject to vat to be offset against the income vat
mostclubs have a net vat bill of 300k plus per year

| Quote: Kelvin's Ferret "We have a ft commercial manager and a ft media manager and other staff looking after the sales and marketing side. The ft CEO role is currently vacant, but we have a pretty strong board looking after things.'"
It wasn't meant as a criticism Kelvin
Leigh also have a F/T commercial manager and other P/T sales and marketing staff , and that is as well as the LSV stadium having thier own commercial,Marketing and sales people
We have a P/T CEO who works for the Owners company
But the RFL have told them to access the funds available they need to employ yet another person whose remit will be to bring in ' new outside extra corporate ' money to the club , they also require this person to meet certain percentages over his stated salary or the money will be withdrawn
Now you are based in London and have a large business community to pitch to
We are in Leigh and well we dont really have wall to wall millionaires just queing up to spend a few hundred thousand on a hobby
The RFL seem to think we do have
Which tells me a lot about them and thier understanding of NL/Championship RL

Wouldn't these be problems in Super League too?

For a number of NRL clubs though they are paid to play at the stadium and only get a minor cut of gate receipts, it's usuall around $100k a game. At an average of $20 a ticket that is only 5,000 through the gate. No wonder clubs with better stadium deals like Newcastle, NQ etc work harder to get fans in and make alot more money through gameday income.

| ps good to see Warrington being so honest and upfront with the fans, i wish all clubs (including my own) would do the same. It can act as a motivator to the faithful to dip into their pockets a little more if need be.
Surprised Wolves spend an extra 1.4mill on slaries above and beyond the first team squad salaries. Must be those Aussie wives in the shop!

its a guaranteed $100,000 per game but if the crowd gets over a certain figure then the club shares it with the ground
the clubs have said that the $100,000 at homebush makes more money than 10,000 - 12,000 at a traditional ground like leichhardt oval.
the clubs that have moved to homebush permanantly like the dogs, tigers and souths have all seen very large crowds there.
the dogs got 38,000 for the roosters match last year.
souths have had a couple of crowds over 30,000
crowds are growing because of homebush
