I agree, great stuff, well done Leigh. I love the way this club is now being run and managed. Just goes to show you there is more to RL than the whole SL hype. With London and Bradford recruiting strongly, it's going to be some competition next season.

Does anyone know what the television rights situation is with this league next season? Would a massive shame and waste if it wasn't to be aired.

Sky have the rights, and according to that recent RFL document about the new structure, all they are showing is the Blackpool weekend games and some of the qualifiers come the end of the season.
Very disappointing, and a huge step back from the coverage Premier Sports used to do.

I simply don't understand why they won't just show one match a week when they constantly televise such garbage as the Womens Rugby World Cup (being played on a training field), Currie Cup Rugby, RFU Championship, et al - all with minuscule viewing figures to what the RL Championship games used to get.

I just knew this was going to be our season - posted on 4th March.


Everything seems to be falling into place for us at the moment. We are without debt for the first time in a long time; we have a great board who have a clear vision for the future and a team who are a joy to watch.

Of course it's very early days yet but I believe we have a squad who will be very difficult to beat this season and there's a definite buzz around town. Our gates have risen significantly even though we haven't played any of our biggest rivals yet and our boys are playing great rugby.

I don't often (in fact ever) praise the RFL but the return of P & R has ignited a long lost passion in the Championships and I can't wait to see how the season will unfold.

The team coaches fans and directors are a close knit family, the board and some of teh players spent the weekend in the local pubs in town with the shield sharing it with fans .

well done Leigh your fans were great last game of season at crusaders,just a pity our club decided to put you all in a different stand spoilt what would have been a fantastic atmosfear, good luck next season

Because with Womans Rugby World Cup and Currie Cup they're only buying the rights to show the existing footage, for probably not that much. It's a significantly bigger investment they'd need to make to show RL Championship matches as they would actually need to do the OB themselves (and they wouldn't recoup any of that cost though syndication as no other country would be interested in buying it).

Now I'm not one to defend Sky, not a fan of them, or their owner.
However you're right about the OB coverage.

On the way back from Cardiff after one of the RLWC games we were joined at our table on the train by a guy who was one of the producers for the BBC. While chatting I bemoaned the fact that they always show the all SL tie in the Challenge Cup when you can see some other games are going to be real hard fought affairs. His response was that the costs for OB were so high that anyone taking a punt on a non-SL tie would pretty much kill their career if it turned out to be a damp squib. Some of the figures he mentioned were pretty eye-watering.

And while I think about it, well done Leigh.
