Where would those stars appear from, without weakening the NRL.

Forget the NRL if we could bring the likes of Sonny Bill or Greg Inglis to the Super League you'd have Sky on their knees, plus what your forgetting is the British talent that have gone and left our game for Union or the NRL, if the cap was bigger they wouldn't have gone, unfortunately abRugby League career is short so if a player is offered more money elsewhere then there off.

"they're off", it should be.
I've had enough of people writing 'there' instead of 'they're' or 'their'. Did you go to school?

Yes, but if those players were playing at existing SL clubs why woyld Sky pay more? Who will be the new subscribers?

| The point is sort of that over in Aus, under the NRL management, the game is going from strength to strength and over here, whilst no doubt the standard has gone up, to the extent that our players are actually now in demand as better thah anything most clubs there can produce, somehow the entire game seems to be in a financial morass.
Quote: "How would that make any difference? Would UK TV companies suddenly pay alot more to televise a local game?'"
Oh yes, because I really think that if the NRL took charge of SL then changes would instantly happen by magic, don't I.
The NRL has shown that, done the right way, RL CAN be a major and wealthy sport, and CAN attract extremely substantial and widespread sponsorship. In cash. So what, if any, is your point? Do you believe that the RFL are running things to the max, perfectly, and so despite many clubs being on the brink, every possible penny has been squeezed from every possible source? Is that your view? Well, then we may as well pack the game in now.

| Gf why are you bringing Bradford into it? It's irrelevant who FA supports.
If NRL is as small as the picture you paint the surely he has a point and the NRL board has done wonders in getting a tv deal so big.

| I really think it's time Super League was replaced with National Rugby League UK and appoint some NRL senior staff or set up a similar commission as from my perspective this game at national pro level is been run into the ground.

| I recall when Brsibane Broncos were attracting big crowds that they tried via Barry Maranta to weave the NRL magic on London Broncos. Despite some early promise look how things turned out. Until the wider British public gets into RL (and I see no prospect of that ever having given the contary vested interests and lack of finance in the game to kick start a massive and sustained promotional campaign) then whatever management there is the result will be the same.

what you fail to mention in your OP is that:
1. the salary cap is going up as well so clubs will actually only be $50k better off if they take the money
2. it is an advance interest free loan for clubs that are skint, not an increased payment
A number of NRL clubs are financially struggling as much as some SL clubs despite the $billion TV deal they just signed.

"fail"? I made short post, I wasn't writing an exhaustive treatise analysing the entire Australian game ffs

I am looking at it from the perspective of the rugby, the standard of play, the quality of the teams, the attendances they get, and the amount of money that the players, especially the top players, can earn. This attracts commits and retains a large proportion of the best and most talented athletes, and in turn the crowds pay to come and watch them, as the quality of the comp is the best there is.
However if you are suggesting that at the same time, NRL clubs would all be run as some profit-making business and their directors all jetting off to their condos in Hawaii, counting their profits - WHY? NRL is no different to any major sport in the world - the attraction for rich people is to own a top club and throw a bunch of money at making it the best or trying to.
