Not exactly...
"Robin Park Arena is Wigan Warriors’ new multi-million pound facility in association with Wigan Council."
Not like Wigan RL to Cuckoo other people's possessions, is it? Much.

We pay the bills, the council use it for athletics still.

| You pay for the bit you use.
The rest of it is still a Wigan Borough Council run facility.
What happened to Orrell???

We use most of it from what I can tell. The pitches, the gym, the offices, there's a players bar and club shop.
Orrell is being sold for houses I think. Needed doing up and I think the costs were too high.

| No, you have use of it at certain times and it remains a public facility for public use the rest of the time.
WRL rent some office and changing room space.
WRL do not own Robin Park.
WRL do not own a single blade of grass fit to host SL rugby league.
Of course, I'd still prefer that to what we do have (though one day, being tenants will come to haunt clubs like Hudds, Wigan & Hull FC).

What do you class as "certain times" considering all of our offices are there, we train there, our club shop is there?
The council gym facilities are across the road. Their only use of the arena is the running track.

| Robin Park Arena is not for the sole use of WRL and is not owned, in any way, shape or form, by WRL.
It's a tenancy.
You used it to take the P out of Cas and Wakey, saying "your" training facility was better than those clubs first team grounds.
All your facilities are rented.

No - that's the bills.
The rent they pay is separate.

| Quote: Pumpetypump "It may well be frustrating, but its not difficult to see why that will have taken hold. You get promoted after winning the 1998 Division 1. The next year Hunslet win it and get told they are ineligible for promotion due to their ground. The following year Dewsbury win it and get told the same thing. So either your ground was good enough, or you promised to make it so. You are saying it's the former. I don't know which is true, that's why I was asking.'"
you go back a long time
So do I, but my take on this is Superleague did not want two clubs in Leeds, and didn't want a "Small club" either but wanted a city club with a good history.....
At that time SL did not know Wakey council would not be supportive of their top footy club, or that Wakey would be shafted on Newmarket.
As for a promise to make Belle Vue good enough to be in SL, well SL seems to accept it's good enough and have done for 20 years?...........

Tremendous point.
Maybe SL should only accept clubs who own their own ground??
Wakefield make every effort they can to improve the ground, it makes sense to do so as it was said at the time a better ground would mean better finances and a stable club.
Carter has improved the ground best he can and continues to do so, and he keeps the finances in decent shape too.
Aren't Salford at risk of collapse because they do not own the ground??
This Wakey bashing is really silly..... Go bash Salford.....
