There are right's & wrongs in this complexed issue, " bewareshadows" is right about human species, over population, you cannot breed beyond the planet's sustainability, eventually nature will re-balance at the expense of human life, in part or whole. We may be able to slow down that final date but it will come even if we reduce carbon = Co2.
XR have may agendas, but it is wrong to lead people to believe man is the sole cause of Co2 that will bring about sole destruction.
You can all check on Google & currently the BBC science news, 90% of carbons are located in the earth, the planet,
of which release of 75% of carbons in the atmosphere are released naturally via volcanoes - there are 2000 volcanoes on the planet with hundreds active all the time, recorded by scientists & measured discharge confirmed.
Therefore human activity creates 25% globally, of which Britain creates just about 1%, a verified figure.
The nux of all this is carbons are not static due to wind & weather, so all have to take part.
The measure is that there has been 5 No perturbations of carbon extinctions, we are entering the 6th, this is the argument/s.
You cannot have zero carbons per say, you cannot have zero carbons that humans create, however, you can mitigate, (reduce) Co2 & this this current dilemma.
Britain will never achieve zero carbons by humans, indeed we are carbon ! So is all our food, cooking heating, everything has a footprint !
We have as usual a bunch of people not looking at the whole subject matter, only myopic point/s & a desired outcome that cannot be obtained.
So back to my love of rugby league, we create very little Co2, so onwards & upwards, let's mitigate issues Over the climate & live.

Whilst there are genuine causes for concern around climate change and areas we definitely need to improve on, there needs to be a hardline taken against this group in particular. Peaceful and non-disruptive protests are fine, let them crack on. But when they are vandalising property, damaging people's livelihoods and breaking laws they need to be cracked down on. Take a walk around London when this stuff is going on and you'll see drug taking is absolutely rife and it's vile. They stagger round in a daze like zombies because they're all smacked up. And a lot of them are there for the organised kick off and the fun that is to them. You'll see them carrying disposable plastic bottles, dropping litter, eating in Greggs and McDonalds then going back to their tents to save the planet again.

Will rugby league bother them? Hopefully not, last thing we need is those fools knocking about. Despite the inclusion of Toronto, it's highly unlikely the SL teams will be chartering planes, they'll be flying cattle class using the cheapest possible tickets.

Well put saddened, rugby league does have a carbon footprint but it is low & yes should help & seek to be reduced but let's not get issues out of context.
The 20k of more planned 40k over two weeks day & night will will eat, drink,wee wee, deffracate & Fart beyond what games gatherings rugby league creates, there isn't enough toilets 24/7 for them for a start which all has to be cleaned up for public health, paid for by London tax payer this the carbon footprint they cause is just as irresponsible, two wrongs have never made a right !
So onwards & upwards to our sport - RUGBY LEAGUE !

The rising sea levels may just affect some of the South Seas nations, which may prevent them doing anything, let alone play RL.

It all comes down to who you want to believe but, if the scientists are right, some islands will be swallowed up by the seas, which makes playing RL rather difficult or you could believe blokes like Trump.

As I said, everything is deemed fine, until there is a direct effect on you.

There are 3 definite solutions.

Nature will push back and correct our over population.
Humans will use up most of the resources, once they are gone it will be back to subsistence living
Someone will thanos the lot of us


As admirable as environmentalism is, it is only a sticking plaster that will delay the inevitable. At some point oil will run out along with modern medicines.

Beyond that thermal entrapy awaits us all.

I was reading a newspaper article a few weeks ago about a massive glacier in Alaska. Apparently,it has been shrinking since the days of the America Revolution which was long before humans invented mass mechanisation ,global travel etc. Ironically,all our little clubs will be more famous in Canada than in the UK.

I don't know the science, but would one plane flying to Toronto, that would have gone there anyway, be worse than 500 cars from Featherstone travelling over the Pennines to Wigan, who wouldn't have gone there otherwise, for example?

You can suggest a move back to 3pm Sunday games to reduce floodlit games (unnecessary power consumption) but the focus on TV money overides that in some cases - hence businesses will always tend to prioritise income over environmental concerns.

We could ban all away fans. Season ticket holders only. That would make for a cracking product.

We could just shut up shop completely and reduce our impact on the environment that way
