As I said, I have seen hundreds of sporting contracts and not one has included this clause. Ive seen plenty of other weird and wonderful clauses though

| Quote: HXSparky "A couple of years ago, Fax players were subject to a 10% cut in their pay across the board whether regardless of their contract position. They were given the option of leaving if they didn't want to accept the cut. IIRC no-one left. The "carrot" was to reinstate the 10% based on making top 4, which Fax did, and all the players got their 10% back, albeit as an end of season bonus.
I'm sure that there must be ways and means of adding clauses into contracts that protect the club depending on outcomes.'"
Dane Manning did

You can insert as many as you like. Its getting the player to sign it thats the problem. I wont mention names but as an example, a good few years ago a certain SL three quarter refused to sign a contract that had a wage cut if the club got relegated. His reasoning was, that he was their top try scorer that season so he was obviously pulling his weight so why should he suffer if others werent pulling their weight?

I don't think anyone is arguing that they shouldn't but it's (almost certainly) not allowed under the Operational Rules.

It may only take a half decent lawyer 10 mins to draft and players could even sign it but, it still would not be accepted by The RFL.

Again there is a list of permissible clauses that can be used in RFL sanctioned contracts

Sorry to disappoint you but rumours of Fev's imminent demise have been greatly exaggerated. There will be quite a few players leaving but plenty more coming in, including two overseas players who played in the 2017 World Cup.

Good to hear that. RL still needs the likes of Fev, Leigh, Fax and the rest of the Championship sides (incl C1) to survive and prosper.

Yup, future feeder clubs to SL. When SL becomes more multinational, the small time heritage clubs can choose to be feeder clubs or join BARLA.

Well if you want to talk small time and heritage then you can add Huddersfield, Castleford, Wakefield, Salford and Widnes to the list. We will be left with perhaps 6 independent and fully professional clubs in the UK. Is that what we really want? Frankly, I don’t.

No as renaming it would make absolutely no difference whatsoever

In the current sports market place, a league that involves 4k gates at Widnes, Wakey and Salford cannot and will not deliver a decent TV deal.....without that deal, the game will wither and die.
Hard choices need to be made. Wakefield......either merge with Castleford or at least share a new stadium. Widnes.....sorry, but natural selection is doing it's job there as it is in Salford......both clubs need an injection of major cash or a shot of strychnine ......Huddersfield can either step up their game or join another merged super club........if we continue to let the tail wag the dog we will be dead as a pro sport inside twenty years.....

46584_1279360105.jpg Warrington RLFC: The Wire, NOT Warrington Wolves
FORZA WIRE:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_46584.jpg |
|
| I enjoyed watching Wires when a lot of the players were semi pro and we played in a crumbling wreck of a ground with an often godawful team. If the game goes semi pro again it doesn't mean it will cease to exist or people who have enjoyed it all their lives will stop liking it. RL attracts some drama queens.
