You might like to pretend otherwise but I'd bet in Warrington it's referred to as "the Derby against Widnes/a derogatory name for Widnes" as it is vice versa.

Whats so funny about that? I don't get it?
St Helens v Wigan - 10 miles apart in different counties - derby game
Warrington v Widnes - 7 miles apart in the same county.... Cheshire....derby game
Am I missing something?

| It is clearly a derby, its like the same distance as cas-wakey and they are in the same county as well so if Cheshire derby isn't one then neither is the other.

You're right, they're the vermin to me. But to an outsider looking in it's the Cheshire derby. Regardless of title, it's the biggest 'derby' taking place this weekend...

| As a Wire fan I'm glad it's not on the box. All home tickets sold, 1500 tickets left in the away end - possibly wouldn't have been the case had it been on the telly.

| I don't understand why people would suggest binning the Hull derby between Hull (5th on 6pts) and Rovers (10th on 3pts) when they could bin the "derby" between Cas (8th on 5pts) and Leeds (9th on 10pts)?
Same amount of points combined. One's actually a derby though. The other one is just "filler" because Bradford aren't around anymore.

If Leeds had 10 points, they wouldn't be 9th

| you're gonna get a saints or wigan fan coming on now all butt hurt telling you about the earl of derby allowing only a horse race or something and the battle of billinge lump being the only true 'derby'.
They're very protective over that, despite EVERY sporting match in a geographic close proximity being referred to as this.

Some of the town has always been in Cheshire. The Mersey was the county boundary of Cheshire and Lancashire until 1974.
