Knew this would happen before long. It would be very naïve to expect the Championship clubs to be competitive straight away. The new system has the best chance of thriving after a few years as the Championship sides start to become accustomed to playing the Super League teams. Right now, it's pretty much a new experience for them.
A Championship team can still finish 5th, win one game and be in SL remember.

Leigh have enough quality to beat some SL sides on there day. Money isn't the big disadvantage in the 7 game series. It's experience! They should of beat Hull KR. Big score lines happen in rugby. Look at Leeds vs Warrington in the opening round of the 8's...
No excuses for them. Leigh and the other championship teams will have to learn, bounce back and put themselves in confident moods for that million pound game one of them may find themselves in. The only way to do that is to try and compete till the end.

I did watch the game live and my comment was made after seeing the incident. Even if it's accidental contact it's still contact with an official. |

The offence is deliberate contact with a match official. Not just contact! Accidents happen. He trips and stumbled into him. He wasn't in full control of his balance. Hock and currie were.

The concept needs to run for 5 seasons plus the main thing is the championship club need to be allowed to spend the same salary cap at the moment Leigh can only go to a million the extra £800 k gets you some serious quality players, Leigh's biggest fault is they can't build pressure in the championship as they have already scored long range ,its a total different ball game playing the super league clubs,alls not lost 5 games to go

Don't necessarily agree on the salary cap but do on Leigh effectively being too good for the other Championship teams.
I'd say the answer is to improve the Championship to the point where all or most clubs are at or very close to Leigh's standard.
That would provide Leigh more intense games closer to SL standard. |
