Why else would he go there? Why are people struggling to see this(well outside of Hull anyway)?

| Quote: The Devil's Advocate "It was widely reported that Ellis went from Wakefield to Leeds for less money, in order to win stuff.
Not sure about when he went to Aus, but that was just about him playing in the greatest RL competition.
If what’s been touted about on here is true, he hasn’t gone to Hull because they are the biggest paymasters, however, the biggest financial offer surely came from a club, he believes, isn’t going to win squat in the next few years.
But, if he still wants to win stuff, why take a punt on Hull?'"
What a silly statement! I recall not too many years ago a lot of people had that attitude about Wire, a new coach and some astute signings changed that! Hull have a new coach, one with a good pedigree and now we are starting to make some very astute signings, we are going in the right direction....

| Quote: Mild Rover "Arguably a pedantic point, but Pearson did not take City all the way to the Premiership. Most of the way and was then there to help pick up the pieces.
Fans tend to be sceptical of the grand plans of rival clubs. Even their own if they're wise and/or miseries. This signing will be a big step towards diminishing that, but it won't remove it totally. Hull have been on the verge for a while now, according to their more optimistic fans. This time I think there might be something in it, but others maybe need more convincing.'"
Fair point. Other fans are probably not aware of the sweeping changes that have been made since the old regime and just how bad things had gotten under Uncle Kath, James Rule & Richard Agar. I can tell you that until Pearson took over, most Hull fans were frustrated that a club with such potential was stagnating because of poor player development and a 3rd rate coach (amongst other things). We may have been on the verge a few years back but the appointment of Agar and the unwillingness of the Board to invest where needed took us backwards.
There's been clear intent all over the shop from Pearson that he aims to make us a top side and win silverware. One thing that makes him stand out is that it's clearly not all talk. His actions over such a short period of time speak volumes. If I were a player being courted by Hull FC this would certainly grab my attention.

| Hull allegedly do not offer the biggest payday..MaCrae puts a dossier together and sends it to Ellis.
My question is...What was in that dossier of intent that swayed Ellis?

I fail to see how signing one second rower will take you from a mid table team to winning things? Who are these other 'astute' signings you've made?

We've signed a player who's in the top two in his position the other been Sam Thaiday. Not a position we were desperate to strengthen but it's Ellis for god sake the guys an amazing player.

Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.: |
|
| There's room in the statement that allows for the actual money paid by Hull to be less but taking contract length & any "unconnected" 3rd party deals makes the whole package very attractive to Ellis.

Pearson has also brought in Aspinwall and Tony Martin.
As for Ellis, cracking player, superstar of world rugby, will be a fantastic signing!

| Quote: ry21 "Didn't Agar sign some of those, therefore they must be rubbish.'" Mot FC fans will acknowledge that Agar brought some good talent to our club, the problem was he did not know what to do with them!!
A prime example of this is Will Smith, pretty poor under Agar, now a different player under a coach with a good pedigree.

Ok, they are solid players, but not much more imo. Ellis is a cut above those mentioned but the likes of Seymour, Hermenia and O'caroll aren't exactly world beaters. Lynch isn't getting younger, but Mckinnon does look good from what I've seen so far. It's just coming across to me like the Hull fans seem to think like this signing is the difference between being a mid table side to one of the top sides. You have a bit to go yet.

Most realistic FC understand building to success takes time, however regarding your point, name me 1 team in SL who have a team full of players with the calibre of Ellis, most teams are built on solid players, players like Ellis enhance a team.
