| The season has not even started yet and Tomkins is already getting under the fans skin.

| Thing is though, he will just end up relating everything from a Wigan perspective, I wouldn't blame him if he did, if you chose any player to do the same in the end they will talk about their club. If there was a rotation of players then fine, but I don't want the commentary just to be Tomkins talking about Wigan with Eddie and Stevo creaming themsens over everything he says. And don't get me started on Clarke. But, he could of course offer a level headed opinion of the game, but I really doubt it.

| Well no change there then. Thought the off-season and Sam's total commitment to the England cause might have softened attitudes a bit. He's young, articulate, intelligent and RL's most high profile player. They've even heard of him on London and it might just be that the yawnion wallers will watch and become aware of just how barren their game is and switch en masse to League. Prejudices aside it's a great move.

I really don't think he will and that's were I think he'll change people perceptions of him.
I think somebody raised a good point about Gary Neville and the suprisingly good job he's doing on the football. He's as dedicated one club man as you'd get yet I believe he's giving really good and impartial views on games and I think Tomkins will do the same.
Using ex players is great and they do but using current, top line superleague players is really interesting as well. Hopefully more will follow Tomkins lead......just please not Sinfield though because as much as he's a top player he's not half boring to listen to (serious comment by the way not a fishing trip).

| A 'clever' way to get more money through Tomkins' bank account off salary-cap, and further Wigan bias on the Sky commentary team to boot. Ace.

| Personally, I think they should have gone with Josh Charnley. That boy has some serious media skills.
On a serious note,

This is why. Not only is he becoming the go-to name in Rugby League in the Country, but he comes across as an intelligent lad. They should add a few more current to the rotation though, I agree. Gets a bit boring with the just the same 3 or 4 every week.

I am looking forward to getting the insight of a current professional and quite happy its Tomkins. What I can't agree with you is on is the Gary Neville bit as he has come out with some rubbish and everything is 'Man Utd this and we did it better'. Can only assume your a MAn Utd fan.
Back on topic, looking forward to hearing Mr Tomkins speak about the game.

| Just using Sam Tomkins isn't right in my opinion. If they used a few different current players then it would make sense. There are many intelligent and well spoken players in the game at the moment and it would be interesting to get some different viewpoints.
He's an exciting talent but he's not the only one. He's intelligent and well spoken, but so are many other current players.
It should be several current players being used or none at all.

Sadly I'm one of few people in Wigan that support the football team as well as the rugby. I say sadly but then I'm proud that I support my local teams which isn't always the norm in football.
TBH the Neville comments are based more on what I'm told by friends rather then what little I've seen. I've got mates who support Liverpool and City and they've been suprised how un-biased he's been.
