| Quote: garethtaylor15 "Haha... are you real.?
His first real chance of scoring and hes taken it.?
has he learnt how to tackle - are you watching the same gareth thomas, there hasnt been on questions about his tackling.
taking so long.? he cant be that bad hes been part of a CRU team thats won 2 games 1 at home 1 away and been part of a team thats run 2 teams close away from home.
I see no reason why the CRU cant push for a top 8 finish they have played 7 out of 10 away from home and have won 2 away aleady if they can win 6/7 at home and pick up 1 or 2 away wins they shall be in the mix.'"
hey he knocked himself out in his first tackle and gamely played on
i just wondered if he knows where to put his head now
its funny seeing a welsh union internatinal taking so long to get used to SL.
imagine if he tried the nrl?

| Took so long to get used to RL? He's had what, 4 RL matches in his life (all at SL standard)? And he's already scored?
And all this from an over the hill 36 year old.
Don't know of too many Aussie carpetbaggers who've come straight from the NRL and scored after just 4 matches .
Imagine if he'd tried NRL? He'd be NRL's MVP by now. You Aussies have not seen natural rugby talent like Alfie since the days of David Campese. Oh you're well drilled, but no instinct.

yeah im sure "Aflies" tackling is as good as campos
campo was a doormat
look ill leave it at that
for a RU international to go to SL and not star says a lot about the game.
1 try in 4 games might be good in union but its s**t in league if hes a winger

Give it a rest Dally. I always had you down as a balanced and intelligent contributor to the forum, but your eagerness to crush the sport of Rugby Union looks a tad weak here. Thomas has turned down an easy life in union to challenge himself in league and whilst doing it also use his considerable fame in Wales to promote the Crusaders. How can you be so dismissive of that? Of course he's not going to be Mal Menninga's second coming at 36, but he's already a solid and dependable player for Crusaders.

| alfie is a legend in wales maybe some of you moaning about him should come up with a similar marketing strategy to breath some life into your clubs.im new to rugby league and find it extremly good .crusaders are targetting an audience who have never seen rl what better way to get the wxm public involved by signing an absolute icon in wales.the council the owners and wxm public seem to be getting behind the club, north wales has a massive catchment area with no pro club of any kind if they keep doing what they are the crusaders could become a massive hit which surely is good for rl.

The centre was out of position, not Alfie, it would have been a try whether he had come in or not.

There is and will only be one Alfie in RL, and it's not Gareth Thomas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope he does go well but he has yet to play a decent side where he can be ruthlessly exposed, which he will be.
At least he has provided one of the funniest Tv moments of this season when he got up and wobbled like a punch drunk boxer after his first hit up

thanks for the compliment
look a few people on here have told me how good the welsh union backline are they would apparently make it in the nrl
i therefore am take some glee at pointing out that a star player from this welsh team is struggling to make it in SL, let alone the nrl
good on the guy for trying but its a big achievement for RL that hes struggling to adapt
RL is a faster, harder game than union. this proves it

Wonder who that was?
The all conquering power of the Welsh union backline...

yeah exactly
the vaunted welsh union backline whose players cant tackle properly and struggle with the pace of SL.
RU = epic fail.
other than marketing, we shouldnt be signing union players and expecting them to match our athletes.

| They've had one bad tournament and you call "epic fail".
He ain't struggling. It's called LEARNING. He has gone striaght into starting for a SL side, straight off the back of the RU season with no break and no pre-season training for a game he's never played before and has scored within 4 games of starting. All this from a "past it old whiner" who's not tough enough for TGG.
And you call that struggling? I'd like to see ANY overdrilled Aussie drone do something similar at the peak of his career, let alone in its twilight.
There's only ONE "epic failure" on this board Dally. If you want to see who that is, look in your spot-squeezing mirror.

| Overuse of emoticons doesn't make you right. It just makes you look (more of) a tool.
Should an RU international (an "old" and "soft" one at that) already know all the rules and different tackling styles of RL then?
You are a fool Dally. An egotistical, arrogant and wrong one at that. Your criticisms are without foundation and you know it. But you are so desperate to win a messageboard bicker that you just keep answering with more and more ridiculous criticisms.
Can't be bothered with you any more. enjoy your small, small mind.
