I stopped paying Setanta by accident and only discovered when the channel stopped working. They then sent me a letter demanding payment, which I forgot about. Not that I was going to pay, mind, as it seemed they had been overcharging me so as we were even as far as I was concerned.

That was until the other week when they wrote to me again, only this time offering me a discount to re-subscribe. I assumed they must be used to people just cutting off payment as a way of leaving.

Between Foxsports and Channel Nine you can watch all games live in Oz unless there are two games on at the same time in which case you get a choice which to watch.
Or Chan Nine who has two games on Friday nights shows the Qld games first in Qld and the interstate game second and vice a versa down South.

Beyond that and the continual replays all week you have the
Footy Show on Thursday and Sunday
Fox Rugby League show
Fox NRL Tactics
Toyota Cup
Barefoot League
2 x Super League games (one live)

More than enough even for an addict.

I assume they have the broadcast rights but pay per game so if they knock it down to 1 game then they save money. Otherwise what are they saving by not broadcasting? They don't do any production on them because they use the programmes as supplied by Nine or Fox and they show essentially at dead time in the early morning.

I don't subscribe to Setanta as I find their coverage embarrassing at times (Rugby and Football). If you were to ring them and say you were cancelling with immediate effect due to them cutting their coverage of NRL I reckon they'd offer it to you half price until normal service resumes.

as for coverage of the magners league, thats a crock because NRL programming (with current summer timings in Aus) is:
friday: 8:30am
saturday: 8:30am
Sunday: 3:30am
monday:8:30am

No other sport they show would surely clash, not to mention the fact that teleshopping is being shown at this time on a subscription channel!

It says that a response should take up to 5 days, will be interesting to see what they come back with. Last time I tried to cancell at the end of the NRL season I was offered half price until March.

Can't believe they have Teleshopping on next Friday! Email has been sent.

we have RL on every night on TV including :

mon - 5 hours
tuesday - 1/2 hour
wednesday - 1hour
thursday - 2hours
friday - 5 hours + replay
sat - 6 hours
sunday - 6 hours including a choice between SL on 9 and a live NRL game on fox at the same time

Invitation to treat is one of the most irritating concepts in Law I have come across. You can make an invitiation to treat for anything in the form of an advertisement and you don't have to actually offer it. Strange.

I just called to cancel my subscription and their customer services team has called me back. I gave them my reasons are cancelling and they try to persuade me to stay by telling me about their Magners league coverage.

When I told them I was a rugby league fan and not a fan of rugby union and that it was their coverage of Australian rugby league that attracted me to them they began telling me about their AFL coverage.

Eventually they offered me £9.99 a month. The only caveat to this was that my 12 month contract would restart tying me to them at that price. £9.99 a month is excellent value in the range of sports that Setanta show however I declined because of the 12 month tie in.

They very quickly offered me £6.50 per month for the next three months with no 12 month contract. That's a great deal and it allows me to reassess my subscription with them at the end of the three months
