Catalan announce the signing of ex Leigh Centurions scrum half Josh Drinkwater until the end of the season.
Oh my word Jean, another player that has been on the payroll at "Lowly Leigh" to join the Mighty Catalan Dragons, who would have thought a lowly "insert the many derogatory phrases about Leigh you have made" team would have the quality players to wear the shirt of the superstar laden team?

Josh did fine for us at Leigh, and I'm pleased he has got another SL gig. However, as for 'directing them around the field', well he wasn't brilliant at doing that behind an often beaten pack. (What half back would be?) Of course, he has the might of the Catalans squad to work with, so he should be fine!

I have read on another site from a Frenchman with inside contacts, that Les Catalans Dragons have signed Mitchell Cornish, the reserve half of the Sydney Roosters. I guess that must be for next year, which is why Joshua Drinkwater has only been signed for the rest of this year.

Wests Tigers have 1st option on signing him for 2019, regardless of what happens with Catalans. |

I wouldn't be so sure.
McNamara certainly picks his moments to say he thinks they can. A nilled 40 point drubbing at Cas isn't neither the time nor place to predict a miraculous turnabout in form.
I almost think they are happy to go down.

Catalan in the second tier would do them no good whatsoever and we would lose the best away trip of the season 
Seriously though, any of the "expansion" sides (and I'm not even sure Catalan fall into this category), will rack up substantial financial losses in The Championship and although fans of any club sometimes believe that their side doesnt have the "fight" in them, I'm certain that the management and investors dont want to be playing Championship rugby next season.
Having said that McNamara must have a great CV writer.
He's yet to do anything as a club coach but, seems to walk into decent coaching gigs with alarming regularity.

It's more the fact he is still in post that makes me think the CEO and owners have no desire to battle to stay up.
What other reasons (aside from conspiracy theories) are there for him still to be in post?
