What do you mean grow up? Because my opinion is that there are far too many average overseas players over here, doing jobs that academy players could do, especially in a league where relegation isn't a threat? I don't think that's a childish opinion.
It's not just Bradford that frustrate me, it's every single club in the league. It's like a club releasing a young English player, someone like Chris Dean for example, and replacing him with an average overseas player, someone like Vince Mellars for example.
If a SuperLeague club did something like that I would be very disappointed... |

To be fair I think Dean chose to leave. He was only on a one year contract and rumours were rife before the license decision he'd already sorted out a move to Widnes. |

Walshaw, Kaye, Wildie, Mariano, Wilkes, Fox(?) just a few of the British players signed up for next season.
At this moment in time, only Hickey and Mellars are the only imports contracted for next year. Tongia may get a deal if if plays well enough and Morrison will get another year should the new coach offer him a coaching position.

If a club were to bring through a young player who then chose to play for another nation, I would have no problem with it. I have no problem with Harrison Hansen choosing to play for Samoa or NZ because he came through the british system.
Its the fact that very average players like Purtell, Cross, Lueluai, Mellars, Tongia are getting a gig because clubs dont put the necessary effort in to producing and blooding young players. |
