and the same Colin Love who managed to make the tri-nations lose money and in some crazy attempt at record breaking ineptitude managed to spend $1000s taking him and Mr Carr on an all expenses paid jaunt to Korea to try and get RL recognised and accepted by AGFIS, only to discover, there was a format to applications and criteria they needed to meet, and they should probably go home and prepare for next time
This fool somehow managed to be so ill-prepared, Rugby League wasnt professional enough to be recognised by a body which recognises Cheerleading, Draughts (yes the board game) and the enticingly named Fistball,
yes that Colin Love'"
yep like i said before, Colin love who organized the most succesful RLWC and is currently helping the perth reds get re-established.
the reason RL in england is becoming succesful is it is copying RL in australia. so a couple of years after one of our administrators comes up with an idea and uses it in the NRL, you will find it in use in SL.
remember, youve had administrators like bill fallowfield. that idiot wanted RL to get rid of the play the ball and bring back rucks and mauls.
so yeah, ill take colin love over that any day buddy

evidently not, hence Wire and Leeds not winning everything, and Hull finishing second bottom last year

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Maybe Dally could answer the following questions?
1. Why - if as he suggests - the game is so well run and bouyant in Australia do the clubs have to rely on revenue from unrelated gambling operations to finance their clubs
2. Why are clubs like Cronulla in so much financial trouble if the revenue within the game is so evenly spread.
3. How come the competition is so Sydney-centric which is causing a number of clubs to struggle for support - Roosters, Bulldogs, Parramatta, Cronulla, Souths to name a few?

1. why do Premier League soccer clubs do the same thing. all of those clubs average almost double the SL crowd average ie 15,000 - 16,000
2. cronulla own assets worth $50 - $100 million. their revenues over christmas are poor as there are no games.
3. the NRL grew out a sydney based competition.
clueless.

Not sure there are many leagues clubs in the UK - have Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool got a reliance on slot machines for their survival?
The point still needs answering why if the NRL is such a bouyant comp can the clubs not function on sponsorship and TV revenues?
Football will always draw bigger crowds at the top level - but the Rhinos crowds match most clubs - Brisbane apart - in the NRL and most clubs outside of the premiership
Cronulla are vitually bust - they have no cash - without some serious influx of money they will not survive long term.
Clueless - yes you are

| the Rhinos crowds are slightly above the average for the NRL which is 16,000.
sydney clubs average between 13,000 - 16,000.
indeed 3 sydney clubs get 16,000 and the tigers and dogs in past seasons have had 18,000.

cronulla sharks redevelopment plans :
stgeorge.yourguide.com.au/news/l ... 92811.aspx
the sharks own their own ground, the adjoining leagues club and around $20 million worth of adjoining land.
they recently built a fitness first on there which they get income off and further development is planned.
as i said before, clueless

Really - that's why Manchester Utd the biggest soccer club in the world is a PLC?
"Sharks chairman Barry Pierce admitted last night his club cannot afford a messy legal dispute. Sources say a court case loss could cost Cronulla up to $1million - money the club simply does not have.
"We can't afford to lose a court case,'' Pierce said. "But it's not only our financial position. We have to make sure we cover every aspect. This is a very big and important issue. It is a very big decision and we want to do the right thing by the club, the sponsors, the supporters, Ricky (Stuart, coach) and the team.''
Cronulla are in danger of sinking under a cash crisis after being forced to borrow $500,000 to pay players and staff over Christmas. The Sharks released a press statement yesterday afternoon saying the matter continues to drag on. "
Quote from the Daily Telegraph down under - doesn't sound like a club flush with money?
As I said clueless

| 1. So in conclusion, following your arguments, Premier League soccer suffers from sufficent TV revenues or fan bases because of a reliance on other income sources ie sugar daddies
2. despite having assets worth $50 - $100 million the cronulla sharks are about to go broke
3. Leeds rhinos crowds are behind only 1 NRL club.
wow, clueless
