I can.
Welham would be a good example. Had fantastic form for the season in SL, scoring and creating lots, but playing in SL is not like playing the Aussies. Perhaps the international selection would be better going to a less spectacular, but safer player.
I've played with plenty of players who look the bees knees ripping it up against the bottom half of the league, but aren't worth a when they're up against it.

I think it is quite the opposite and Wellens is a perfect example – a player can be great week in week out in the Super League but doesn’t have that extra level that you need in International football. With Wellens, it was a lack of pace that the Aussies and Kiwi’s exploited – usually with his kick returns
We don’t need safe in international football, we need match winners

Quote: Ande "I agree with Code, look at players like Sinfield who IMO and from what i saw through a few games has carried Leeds' offence by himself.
O Loughlin doesnt appear to do much when ive had the chance to see him on Sky.'"
Sinfield has been playing stand-off all season so I think he's only eligible for that spot. Don't they go off the position you've played the most games in? Sure I read that last year. O 'Loughlin is more grafting type of 13, which shows in a statistical comparision with Sinfield (who is listed as a stand off btw)

Tough call between Monaghan and Roby at 9. Ended up flipping a coin on it. Seriously!

The point I'm trying to make is demostrated by, say, Ben Westwood compared to Jon Wilkin. Wilkin is like Roy of the Rovers for Saints, but has struggled to step up to the extra physicality of International footy.
The straightforward Westwood had to wait quite a while for his chance behind the fancydan likes of Wilkin, but has proved an undoubted success at that level. In fact I sometimes think he plays even better at international than he does at club level.

Wilkin isn't alone in that respect, which is part of the problem that English RL has had for some time. There are plenty of players who have been superstars domestically but can't do it in an England jersey

Exactly, the key to selection will be finding the Westwoods, who can step up with relish.

How people forget about Menzies, colossus for Catalans and also McGillvray at Hudds has done a fantastic job, it was a choice between him or Charnley for me in that position and also Wilkin has been beyond good for Saints this season.

I prefer chilli sauce. If he can step up with that then he's in my team.

Does that include your coach then?
