| Quote: Newton-Le-willows-Warrior "It all seems like bad decisions that went against Leeds. What about Leeds second try! Ablett chucks the ball through his legs, didn't regain his feet and Leeds eventually scored in the corner!
Maybe questions should be raised from the Leeds fans and players of how they only scored once between 40 and 60 mins when they chucked everything including the kitchen sink at Wigan.'"
I think you will find that Ablett was subject to interference as he wanted a quick play the ball could have been a penalty to Leeds but the ref let the play go on. Quite a lot of play the balls from Wigan and some from Leeds were illegal rolling the ball back and not actually placing the foot on top of the ball.
The reason Leeds didn,t score between 40 and 60 minutes, was because Wigan seemed to have had an invisible get out of jail card from the TJ's and Ref. This final will go down as one of the worst inept performances by officials in a final.
In saying the above, I still think Wigan would have won this game albeit in a different set of circumstances, instead of a hollow indignified one.

| Wigan were the best team on the day and deserved to win even if they got a couple of dodgy calls. Had Leeds won it it would have been against the balance of play. I thought Leeds did well to 'rediscover' some rugby skills after being left at the starting gate, but they never really looked convincing. Unusualy inaccurate day with the boot by Sinfield also cost them.

What are your thought's on the matter when Lee Briers flicked the 'V' to the Leeds fans in a play off game only two years ago?
No? I thought not.
Tomkins was wrong, but if you was him and you were booed for wearing an England shirt with pride, would it not be possible for you to forget your status and public icon figure for a moment whilst caught up in the heat and passion of probably rugby leagues most passionate contest and maybe vent your anger/protests towards them?
I don't condone it but surely some people can see why he's done it?
People need to stop clutching at straws and get over it quickly!

As far as I could tell Danny McGuire was at the middle of it, good player with a bad attitude.

So the reason leeds couldn't get over the wigan line is because they had a get out of jail card? Nothing to do with wigan having great defence and aptitude to hold on to a narrow lead! Wigan never went behind in the game so we can't say that we had a get out of jail card at all! The leuluai try was clearly a try, there was no gap between ball and arm, benefit of the doubt was the correct call, the only call leeds can feel aggrieved about is the kick which went off charnley, however wigan would have had leeds in a great position!
And abblett made no attempt to regain his feet and made no attempt to play the ball, should ha have been a wigan penalty every day of the week!
Anyway I've had enough of debate! The super league and challenge cup are both covered in cherry and white ribbons and not blue and amber! That is all that matters to me! Wigan are back and the rest of the rl world don't like it!

| Poor officiating, all the bad calls went to Wigan and unfortunately for Leeds they resulted in scores. I watched the replays of Hicks and he was looking DIRECTLY at the ball and surely (unless he is incompetent, blind or had money on Wigan) he must have seen it come off the Wigan player.
The RFL could not have chose a worse game to put Hick and Childs in front of the nation.

Yeah silly me for thinking y could make the play offs!
OK maybe it was a league then and I'm almost sure you won 17 points to something and Briers DID flick the V to all the Leeds fans.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a player has to play at the ball in order to concede a scrum.

To clear this up, it was the 2006 playoff game, incidentally when Briers was a lot younger, brasher and generally more distasteful than his mellower present day incarnation.
Hopefully Tomkins will follow a similar route in his career. Sure he was an idiot, but he's young, brash and can come across as distasteful, but we all make mistakes. Give him a fine, make him publically apologise (although hopefully he will do this off his own back when he realises how foolish he was) and hopefully he will learn with age and experience.
If not, then maybe an Aussie hard man will change his mind... "What are your thought's on the matter when Lee Briers flicked the 'V' to the Leeds fans in a play off game only two years ago?'" ]

Since when has deliberately diving/sliding towards the ball to gather it not been seen as playing for it?! Yes I agree it came off Charnley before going out, but if we're using your logic Burrows attempt to get the ball hit it into Charnley's legs before going into touch so it would still have been Wigan head and feed.
