So the fact that the Maoris and Aboriginals were there first means that it isn't a race based team? How about Skippies vs Wogs to follow?
Or over here Whites (original inhabitants so nothing wrong) vs Darkies.

I know. I don't think it time makes it any better. The Lions dropped Batten so they could tour South Africa, does this mean it is okay not to play any non-whites in 2010?
FWIW the original New Zealand Natives had some white players as well as Maori.

| I can't see an NZ origin taking off, there just isn't any natural divide that will spark the emotion of NSW v Qld. For the most part us kiwi's get along and would rather bash another country than each other.
Aboriginal v Maori's would be great to see again, the World Cup curtain raiser was played with more passion than I have seen in most origin games the last few years.

| Quote: Dunbar "Really?
I am aware that Gibson had many influences from the NFL including coaching technique from Vince Lombardi and others
But I wasn’t aware that the bomb was a tactic in NFL – I have seen many punts in American football to gain territory but I have never seen a bomb as an attacking weapon
Also, I would have thought that the tactic of kicking the ball high in the air and trying to catch it for your own advantage would have existing in Rugby League well before the 1970’s
You learn something new every day don’t you!'"
was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have

So, taking the name of a play from sport and applying it to a tactic that had been around in rugby for decades
Ground breaking

Are you for real
The Up and Under, Bomb, Garryowen or whatever you want to call a high kick with chasing players has been around since before Rugby in either codes or American Football. It is actually a tactic used in the Eton Wall Game...a game that pre-dates Rugby Football by at leats 50 years (1776).
Then, if you work on the basis that it has been used in Union since the game started, I find it funny that you see the need to make the association with a game that THROWS THE BALL FORWARD......
Your hatred of all things Union is blinding you..........to the extent where you are rambling and talking utter b0ll0x. What next? The shape of the ball comes from American Footbal too? The scrum is actually derived from hockey?
Get over it dally......Union spawned League..League is the better game, but it is derived directly from Union
As for your earlier comment about name calling.....have you had short term memory loss for long?

union did not spawn league my little friend.
in 1895 a bunch of northern rugby clubs decided theyd had enough of the hypocrisy, dishonest of the RFU and their attempts to block their influence in the game and decided to break away
for over 10 years the nu played the same rules as before
in 1906/7 we decided we needed a more attractive game and made most of the rule changes we associate with RL, but this was 12 years after our clubs left.
indeed many current SL clubs pre date the formation of the RFU so they are older than the union game.
in 1895 the game of rugby split into two. the rules didnt change just the governing bodies
heck the sport was even called NORTHERN UNION.
the genesis for modern day RL is 1906/7

...sounds like it all started with Union....therefore, Union spawned League. Thanks for trying to prove me wrong and failing miserably whilst also looking like a complete ballsack at the same time.....genius
