isnt the championship clearly 2nd rate? it being the 2nd teir of competition?

Yes it is second rate which is why people do not watch it in any great numbers apart from at clubs that have aspirations to get out of the league.
Simply advertising 'the stars of the future' in response to having no P&R would have zero effect on the crowds declining.

well i disagree, i think it would only have a positive effect
however, it would certainly raise the standard of the comp, which in itself should attract fans should it not?

No because it's about perceived standard rather than actual standard. Entertainment wise the league is the best it has ever been yet crowds have not risen.
It would instead mean a loss of identity to those clubs and they would in effect become glorified Reserve sides and would get the crowds that go along with a competition like that.

You're right, of course it would. I mean, who could argue with the thousands of people who go to watch SL reserve sides every week? After all, they're the stars of the future

some are, some very much arent,
this is the problem at reserve and academy level, the best youngsters we have are far too good to be playing reserve or academy level, but they probably arent ready for SL level yet
which is where the lower leagues come in, get the best youngsters playing that level, where they will be comfortable but tested, get them battle ready and used to playing grown men, they will improve and improve the standard of the league they are in,
the best of those not in SL + the best youngsters would create a higher standard of league below SL, a better pathway for young players, a place for fans to go watch a high quality game featuring the best young players in the country these seem like good things

| Quote: Saint Simon "It is dissapointing, what offers/deals do quins do if any?'"
The Club have again failed to increase crowds. The offers they do run are badly publicised if at all and therefore, pointless. Without a change of direction from the senior management, they will continue to tread water at the 3,500 mark.
Interestingly, HULL FC are giving away free tickets for this Friday's game, but there has been litttle or no activity from Harlequins Rugby League surrounding our last home game of the season on the 6th. I would follow the lead of Hull FC and open the gates to everyone and hopefully the team will turn up on the pitch and impress the curious locals.

Bit in Bold
Alas....you are right and the club just seem to be treading water.
