Quote: knockersbumpMKII "Sorry but it isn't, only in an association football match is it a criminal offence (As I posted upthread) The worst they could be done for just being on the field is trespass which is a civil matter and would be a royal PITA to chase up. Pubic disorder offences were committed (not by all on the field btw) and a possible assault or two but just entering the field isn't a criminal offence in any sport other than soccer.

I'm sure those that are identified & deserve to be banned from RL games will be.

One thing we do know is that this has had and will have huge negative repercussions both within and outside the sport.'"

Things have definitely changed and to prove it I've just checked my own Club's Ground Regs. The Regulations give a list of things you cannot do, including entering onto the field of play. At the end it mentions that all these regs carry a power of arrest under the Football Grounds Act, 1991.

It's best to just look at the actual law, which is why I asked which section of which Act extends the pitch rule to rugby.

The only problem with the Football Grounds Act 1991 is it doesn't actually exist, for example.

www.widnesvikings.co.uk

The club have posted the faces of some of the perpetrators on the website. They're also publishing their faces in the local newspaper tomorrow.

If any of you recognise anyone don't hesitate to come forward etc

a) www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1991/19/section/4 the government would beg to differ.

b) football =/= soccer. Rugby FOOTBALL League. Clues in the name.

In which case they should be bound over to a beautician, until such time as a full Brazilian has been administered.

My typing error, for 'Grounds,' read 'Offences.'

First I don't appreciate the "Clouseau" jibe, I have posted my views as to the images I have seen and you are free to disagree. Don't show yourself up.

The straight arm, clenched fist punch very clearly shown in the images is just what i said. To describe it as a "tap" is frankly silly and just discredits anything else you say. The only thing the punch didn't do is connect flush. Which I also already said.

Secondly the mascot didn't "go down like a felled tree". He steps to his right and then just overbalances backwards, basically sitting down on his arrse. He then gets up. Nobody is making any more of it than that. He doesn't roll around feigning injury or whatever. He just stands up and walks in pursuit of his head. You seem to be blaming him for being punched and accusing him of faking. I think you have issues if that's the case.'"

I've just watched it again and nothing has changed. The lad pushes/taps the mascot on his head, nothing more, nothing less. Anyone is free to watch it and agree or disagree with me, the majority will agree with me because they've no agenda like you obviously have. If anyone has discredited himself it is you. Watch the video before you make a bigger fool of yourself.

No-one has an agenda apart from yourself. Maybe we should start with the fact that the 'lad' should not have been there in the first place.

I know this is a serious subject, but couldn't help to chuckle when I read the bit about he walks in pursuit of his head...

But as said, that Act specifies "association football".

But that is the now defunct 1991 Act, which was updated in 1999 and 2006.
