Anyone who has played the game will know that if you want to put a shoulder into a tackle, you keep your upper arm tight to your side and your forearm tight across your chest. It's the only way you can effect a shoulder charge without risking breaking your own arm. Look carefully at the short-side slow-mo, Chase can clearly be seen to be lifting his arm before ANY contact is made, Ropati also seems to see what is coming and tries to get his head out of the way. The physiology and dynamics of the incident (Chase approaching from Ropati's right and managing to hit the left side of Ropati's jaw with his right forearm), would suggest that this was far from being any accidental or even mistimed collision.

Chase has been in touch with Ropati to apologise, not sure of the details, but apparently they get on well off the field

Didn't Terry Newton apologise to Sean Long? A lot of the players seemed to get on well with, and genuinely liked Newton too. Didn't mean he should've avoided a long ban.

chase is an absolute disgrace, he was getting frustrated cos the game was'nt going their way so took it all out on ropati, he knew what he was doing and the intent was their all along. in a cowardly act he then taunts ropati after the incident took place. its all ok gronk and co trying to defend the lad but if it was the other way round and ropati had done that to rangi super duper chase, gronk and the rest of the cas fans would be baying for ropatis blood cos their star man got hurt.
i just hope he gets what he deserves which is a lengthy ban but he'll probably get about 2 games which is an absolute joke!

It's only natural that fans want to protect their own players but I don't think you will find many Cas fans suggesting it isn't an offense that warrants a ban. Deserving of 2 games maybe 3 I reckon. Chase's forearm appears to make first contact with the neck and whilst looking where his arm is, Chase jumps and swings his arm up and through his face.
