| Quote: knocker norton "It wasnt the kicking behind Briscoe that beat us'"
It helped them build early pressure which enabled them to build a 26-0 lead.
Quote: knocker norton "it was the more the fact that the cheeky Aussies kept passing to Greg Inglis you clown!!!!!'"
All the more reason to pick a player with some [igenuine[/i pace who can catch him.
Quote: knocker norton "Of course they attacked down their left hand side GREG INGLIS PLAYS ON THAT SIDE.
Am I over simplyfying things here?'"
Yes. But I wouldn't expect anything else.

Did you not see Briscoe (Tom ) almost catch Inglis ?

| Quote: Kosh "Which of Australia's tries came directly or indirectly from a kick behind Briscoe?'"
The tries came as a result of building pressure as a result of this tactic so you are wrong.
Quote: Kosh "Kicking behind a winger is hardly an original tactic.'"
Correct. And?
Quote: Kosh "Australia's game plan was to kick well and move the ball wide quickly as they knew we would be unable to cope.'"
Ah I see "kick well" - very specific tactic - thanks for your specific analysis of your view of the game plan as I requested.
Quote: Kosh "Suggesting that they had a plan based around Briscoe, or that Briscoe's performance had any material effect on the result is simply your typical blinkered bile and nothing more.'"
Absolutely. I've simply highlighted Australia's game plan which was basically to kick behind the opposition's slow and immobile winger to build pressure.

Yes. But if Fox plays, Inglis is cut down way before the try line.

What's most worrying , is when Fox is possession of the ball.

If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...: |

It's most worrying for me as well. But it's just down to a lack of confidence.
Besides, it wouldn't be an issue when chasing down Inglis and co. because they'd have the ball.

| I think Smith came in to cover for McGuire and in consequence we were easy pickings. You simply can't have two people doing one mans defensive work and leave so much space outside against a far quicker team.

I have nothing against the kid at all and I genuinely wish him well for the future because he has the potential to be a decent player.
What is actually more potentially damaging is FC fans "bigging him up" to be something that he isn't.
You've ruined several decent young players over the years by doing this such as Greame Horne, Tommy Lee, Craig Hall etc. etc.
It really doesn't do them any favours because when they day dawns that they don't reach your levels of expectation, you just slate them unfairly IMO.

You are totally missing the point. Whether or not people think he has a big future is irrelevant to todays game. Briscoe did what was asked of him and was badly let down by players alongside him IMO. No more no less.
Your tirade against him is unecessary and generally b0ll0cks. You have not said a bad word against any other player tonight.

Fox's ball recovery would have been far quicker so you would have seen a different complexion to the match because England's exit sets would have been far better - as we saw in the 2nd half.
In terms of individual tries, he would have cut down Inglis when he had no support but of course Smith & McGuire's shocking defending positionally would have been hard for anyone to counter act because even though Fox would have caught individuals, no-one can stop an overlap.

As opposed to someone who thinks that Sheen's entire game plan consisted of 'kick the ball behind Tom Briscoe, lads, and the game's in the bag'.
You've been sulking and stamping your foot about Briscoe being picked ahead of Fox all week. Your posts tonight are merely the culminating dummy-spit.
Now run off and clean that sticky mess off your keyboard.
