Anyone else smell an autobiography on the way?

It shouldn't. Nobody should feel they have to hide their sexuality but at the same time nobody should be expected to make a big thing about their sexuality and 'go public' either.

It's already out & he didn't mention it at all. Maybe he had been tipped off that he was going to be outed by some scum journo & got in before them. Interesting to hear the guy from the gay rugby club on Radio 5 this morning saying that all the teams & county rfu members totally accepted them but the gay press where against them & played up to the stereotype that gay men don't like sport.

In which case what makes someone gay?
A lot of lesbians are chubby and look like fellas, most gays i've met are very feminine, didn't want to sound controversial i've just not come across many 'muscular' gay fellas. I put it down to a lack of testosterone, it's hardly something i've put a lot of research into

Didnt the RFL do some kind of promo with the charity Stonewall??? IIRC they did.

There is of course a problem with RL players who are gay feeling they could admit it. But no more than society in general.

Stats say there must be gay players At all levels of the game an even members of this board. Do I care? No not a jot most people on here who played either code will have almost certainly played with or been friends with a secretly gay player. If your best mate from your club said to you he was gay would you care? Probably not. a player and/or friend is who he is not what he is.

Something that often confuses people is why members of the LGBT community have 'Pride' or 'Like to tell people' but the fact it by telling people it removes stigma. A Gay child seeing a Pride march can help them understand that its ok just to be themselves and that they don't need to hide it any more and the exact same goes for a Gay sports personality, gay politician, gay celebrity. It does help people.
Unfortunately allot of Gay Hate Crime has happened this year, murders and attacks. Prop8 in California removed peoples rights and in Uganda the government have just made it illegal to be homosexual this year. On the 2nd Aug this year in Israel (One of the most gay friendly countries in the world) a gunman killed 2 teenage gay people and injured others whilst they were in a 'hidden support group for teens'.

Sorry for the rant but I applaud the guy for coming out in public, knowing that somewhere a teenage rugby union fan feels that its not actually a bad thing to be who he is.
