Interestingly, players who don't play within the spirit of the rules are described as "winners" or "hard men" or "experienced" or "street-wise" or have a "win at all costs" mentality. These are usually talked of in favourable terms.

Indeed the Kipperman was most damning of those who described Maguire's injury incurred during a blatant act of cheating (or at least not playing to "the spirit of the rules"icon_wink.gif as "poetic justice" and also described Celtic Crusaders ability to skew the competition in Championship 2 and 1 by fielding numerous illegal antipodeans paid for by the RFL as "good management".

However, when it's not the former champions or a pet expansion club, and especially when there's an opportunity to throw some mud at Hull KR the requirement to operate within the "spirit of the rules" becomes much more stringent.

Have to say this as well - have watched a few clips of him on that popular video sharing website (e.g. his appauling late cheap shot on Long a few years ago). If I'm honest he strikes me as an utter tw*t. That doesn't mean he can't be a good signing, but I can't see him been good for morale at this point.

I have to say that although it is a tad tiresome that Hull Kingston Australians overseas roster has contributed to about 15 threads and 2,000 posts to date, this off season on RLFANS.COM has been very enjoyable

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm just trying to double check I've got this right:

Is there really a difference between being "quota" and being "non-fed trained" if you can have any combination of the two witha maximum of five? Does it really matter?

Are the five "non-fed" players at KR Mason, Clinton, Webster, Green and Dobson?
And are the five "exemptions" at KR Galea, Fisher, Vella, Newton and Lovegrove?

Has Galea got his exemption? And if so how? Wasn't the point of the exemptions to be fair to the players that came over to play in the UK under the old rules? Galea came over here as a quota player, surely? Why should be exempt just because he has access to a passport that he never used to work originally?

Wellsy lovegrove has dispensation so is fed trained.

Galea was supposed to get a eu passport and then would go non fed due to him been here for the 2008 rule.

He didn't so no matter what passport Mason held he shouldn't have been allowed to sign.
