| Just to bring this thread back on topic.
I think the team is ok, certainly better squad than we had last year, I think its the coaching and method of play to blame.
Most of us like to see Catalans play with a bit of flair and keen to throw the ball about a bit, which goes against the coaches philosophy.

I do like to watch the dragons, one of my favourite RL tries was scored by Catalans in the game against St Helens where Scott Dureau kicked the winner from the touchline but I just don't get any enjoyment out of watching them at the moment but I would prefer for them to stay around.

It`s the whole club culture, I think getting someone in like Brian Smith would be a masterstroke for Catalan - Not just a coach but someone who can turn a whole club around and establish ground works in every area of the club. Turned the Bulls into a powerhouse and kick started Hull FC. Didn`t work out at Wakefield and he came out and said that he could not do what he wanted to do without the budget. From what i have seen Catalan have plenty of money in the bank so could be an option.

Leaving aside the bigotry against French people, you should look in the mirror sometime, given your personal attacks on certain other posters..
France has the best food in the world and some of the most scenic rural areas in Europe. It would be wonderful if beautiful Avignon could join Super League after Toulouse, so as to give the chance for English rugby league fans to savour the delights of life in the southeast of France as well as the southwest. In fact Toulouse and Avignon between them offer a tremendous selection of great French cuisine.

Can't they just visit these beautiful places, or do they need to be in SL just so they can get a few hundred visitors every 2 weeks?

It would make men of les Avignonaise were they able to sample some decent English cuisine. Who knows, a banquet of lobby might even wring a performance from Catalans.

Personally I prefer Italy on both counts. All my opinion of course but to claim something is the "best" is a bold statement.

| Off topic again then...
Sigh.
For me I only see a coaching change. The Millard try at Saints the poster a page or so above alluded to was brilliant but is fading in the memory.
With the right plays this side could excite with Mead and Gigot at the heard of some unstructured play. Chaos plays we call them. I just don't see McNamara playing that brand of rugby.

It has become known as the "wide to Millard" try, because of comparisons to the "wide to West" try by St. Helens many years ago. Trent Robinson was coach then.
I agree that a new coach could get the star studded team playing at a much higher and more entertaining level.

As I recall, Edward Hemmings made the comparison. Phillip Clarke concurred, as he was wont to do.
