Yeah but that could be said for many clubs (inc yourselves in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's tbf). Can't knock teams for building their support, e.g. Bradford received nothing but praise (deservedly so) when they doubled their crowds in the space of one season in the mid-90's.

It can indeed but im not the one knocking another teams efforts, i remember our poor crowds, i was stood amongst the few hundred, so i and you are hardly in a position to knock others

| Quote: Old_Faithful_IAKW "Ofcourse Quins are woth more than you. Hull KR are in an area where they are dominated (in terms of club size) by a bigger team. The City of Hull will play Rugby League no matter if Hull KR are there or not. They contribute an average attendance to the league, few young prospects and even the much adored travelling support started to reduce dramatically last year as the "buzz" of SL started to spark out.
Quins, for all their faults (and they have many) are much more important to Rugby League than Hull KR.'"
Perhaps you would like to explain your reasons for this.

No matter how much we may dislike things Sky REQUIRE a presence there and therefore THEY ARE MORE IMPORTANT!!!
Losing 1 club in Hull would be no great loss as far as LONDON is concerned and those who run the game.
Lose LONDON and a lot will be lost.
As hard as it is to swallow, RL is now a TV game, run by TV, for TV just as the NFL is in the US.
They pay the piper, they call the tune, they choose the games, and we have to roll with it!!.
I'm not saying it is right but that is the way it is currently!!'"
London was lost a long time ago, I find it very unlikely that the powers-that-be at Sky Sports are really that bothered a side that has sub 3,000 attendances.

| Anybody got a regional breakdown of Sky SL tv viewing figures and if there is evidence that more people watch SL games on Sky when Quins are playing than when HKR are playing? No? Thought not! Anybody who thinks that the massive profile and huge drawing power of Quins SL is creating a large populous of SL TV viewing in the South of England has rocks in their heads!
ps has any RL club ever had 3 different names in just 3 seasons?

May not be not 3 seasons but Wigan Highfield, London Highfield, Liverpool City, Huyton, Runcorn Highfield, Prescot Panthers is an interesting variation!!!

You think that Londoners watch all the SL games just to see Quins but don't want to go to any of the games?
I'd certainly be interested to read whatever study / report gave you this snippet of info.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

Dunno but I'll hazard a guess it's as to why they put money into the game. I don't think it's for philanthropic reasons.
Perhaps it's something to do with the figures that the total attendances at all games are probably considerably less than the viewing figures for any SL game shown.
Loads of people watch SL without going to games. I'm one. The only live SL games I have ever attended were either on corporate does representing the company or someone had a spare ticket.
As mentioned earlier it is a TV game now and having a club in the capital is worthwhile.
Sky could not give tuppence how many go to the game, they survive on how many watch the GAME not watch the the crowd, their ABC analysis and their rate card on how much they charge for advertising.

So in other words, there is no evidence for this view whatsoever. Thought not.
If Sky give money to SL, it is because people watch the games. There is absolutely no evidence that Quins are a cause of this more than any other team.
