| Keep SL on Sky. If this RL channel however, could somehow outbid PremierSports for NRL rights then it would have some significant appeal and 'relevance'.
Plus the amount of Origin, CC, SL, classic match replays from that past that could be shown are endless. NRL on Fox and the Footy Show could probably be shown live and on replay for next to nothing if not free. There are so many things that could be shown, for true RL fans it would be great. Then hopefully the new fans will come through watching SL on Sky...

Because, as shocking as it is, it actually works in Sky's favour for us to be a strong sport.
Yes Sky could probably get RL for maybe half the price they pay but then we wouldnt be able to run a pro league and they wouldnt have a pro league to sell.

I'll agree with you on this.
A dedicated RL channel probably wouldn't work - not enough content and not enough demand.
But I've often wondered if a dedicated 'oval ball channel' would be a goer. RL and RU with a straight 50/50 split of airtime. Perhaps keep live games on SS, but broadcast repeats, highlights, review and preview shows, lower level round-ups/games/highlights, amateur highlights and round-ups, and of course classic games. It doesn't need to broadcast 24 hours a day (many channels don't).
Approach Aus/NZ RL/RU and see what can be done. If most governing bodies are happy to get on board it puts pressure on more to get involved.
Then maybe ask a token subscription. £5 a month for all that? I'd have it.

| Market at a slightly bigger scope, RL, RU, Gaelic sports and NFL, possibly AFL. Never waver off those, some similarities in all those sports, all the governing bodies could be interested as there is a chance of pulling in punters who already prefer ball in hand team sports. Different time zones mean you can run it all night and still pull in the advertising. Make it £1 a month subs, the American and Oz market alone would guarantee good revenue, still keep Sky involved.
Pipe dreams though, but i'd love it.

You're giving a lot of people a slice of the pie there, and then splitting that piece evening further with different countries as well. Guess who will end up getting one of the smaller pieces!
Plus, with all that content, there'd barely be any RL on. We might as well just stay on Sky Sports. I wouldn't pay £5 a month for that.

Me neither, not on top of the 60 odd quid that it already costs to have Sky!

| RL is only surviving because of the exposure we get on Sky and BBC.
Do you really think that companies such as Stobart, Heinz, Fly Emirates etc would pay big money to advertise on our own channel?
We'd never make the money back in sponsorship anyway - it'd cost millions for the licensing, staff, equipment.

No it's not. If RL wasn't aired on Sky or BBC would we have companies like Gillette, Fly Emirates and Plusnet sponsoring us?
Would we be expanding in places like Wales, Northampton and London?
Would we have any money?

And where do you think the money comes from to help enable these clubs and people to play the game? The money for coaching courses, CRB checks, coach education sessions, subsidised insurance and the vital regional development officers?
