Quote: Asim "I don't think Leeds United have a valid safety certificate for the top tier, as the expense of getting it and opening the section would not be worthwhile for them over the course of the season, it wasn't open when they played Man Utd in the cup the other week.'"

Drove past it on the 621 last week and the East Stand is still shrouded in construction covers which I presume is related to this redevelopment:

www.thesquareball.net/what-ken-s ... d-special/

Would have thought it should be completed by now given they were talking about it in March. It appears Caddick is doing the work so I'm sure it wouldn't be over-running and is of the highest quality icon_biggrin.gifANCE:

If they are doing the top tier up theres nothing we can do about it. elland road is the only ground available really. man city have said they dont want any other sports on the ground and i dont reckon man utd would let rugby play on their ground in mid november.

maybe everton would have been an option as theyre skint. nowhere else big ebnough

I just hope he's over-charging them for it!

I didn't even realise it was being re-developed, I just thought they were leaving it closed as they have done for most of the last few seasons.

Hillsborough capacity is just shy of 40k (slightly bigger than elland road), I bet Milan Mandaric wouldn't say no to extra cash.

to be fair to the RFL, they always have to consider the prospect of a Aus-NZ final, which even Elland Road's reduced 32K capacity woulden't have been needed for.

yes I'd like to see England-Aus be able to have the biggest capacity possible, but don't forget this ground was booked months ago.

Which makes you ask the question why have we taken the game there in the first place!

A sh*tehole we cant even use all of! I hope us using the city of Manchester stadium for Magic is a sign of things to come.

It was open and currently there is about 100 season ticket holders up there, looks daft on a match day though.

I hope they open the top tier otherwise we have undersold ourselves. Tried looking at tickets lats night but couldn't get on the website due to high demand.

I really wuld try and get Manchester City's ground in the future. Hull's pitch was in great nick last night, so if a Cahmpionship club can cope with an RL match in it, surely a club with a billionaire owner, where the average player eanrs 200k a week, can afford to have one RL match in November.

But i really hope we get the top tier open.

So, has no one else notice this happen with the Grand Final then; the top tier being closed for sale until the week before the match?

Instead of getting all vitriolic, why don't we wait and see what happens?

According to the Leeds Utd site there are only eight blocks in the stadium with 'limited' availability, the rest has sold out.

Makes a nice change to be worrying/moaning about there not being enough tickets left for a rugby league event. You could argue the RFL have undersold themselves and could of gone to a bigger ground, but I still think Elland road is about the right size. and had it not been England in the final, it would have been a poor attendance which has to be taken into account.
