| Quote: Wellsy13 "Why isn't it the point? Someone complained that they wouldn't be able to go to every game. Whether that was in the 2nd tier or the 1st tier is irrelevant. If they got to the top tier, and had to start playing more games in Europe, would that no longer be a problem all of a sudden? Would they not want to go to every game anymore? Or would they suddenly have more money?
'"
It isn't necessarily more games , it is potentially three games in three weeks , and no , being higher up the ladder doesn't mean you get richer , but there usually is more of you , unless it's Quins of course

What difference does it make if there's more people to that one individual who wants to go to every game?
The powers that be obviously don't give a rats about them poor Man Utd fans. What if they wanted to go to every game?
"Not outside my back yard".

What is the best travelling support in SL on average per game ? , 2/3/4,000 . in the Championship it is a tenth of that , so the games would be poorly attended , if you think that is a good thing then fine , look at Toulouses attendances or the CC matches in France against Championship opposition , if you think a European Cup Final of RL [ although it isnt really is it ? ] with 1,500 people attending is a good thing for the sport then fine
As for your Man utd anology , well they dont normally have just one week to prepare for an away match , and if it was a League 1 side playing abroad , would they attract the same amount of both home and away attendee's as MU ?
It has nothing to do with ' my back yard ' it is plain common sense , which obviously you dont have much of

| Is everyone forgetting that we had a anglo/French cup about 10 years ago. Lancs Lynxs got to the final with a 10,000 gate on.

If you're using away attendances as the reason why your gates are poor, then your gates will always be poor!
Away attendance is a bonus, not a necessity. Hull rarely get more than 500 people at the KC from the away team.

See above. You shouldn't rely on away fans. Toulouse's crowds are low because they are getting beaten every week, not because they don't get many away fans. It's an absolutely terrible argument.
As is saying that a final would get 1,500. Would it? Based on what? How would you know? You don't, you're just picking a low number to make your argument seem plausible. There is NOTHING to suggest that attendance at all. Nothing.

In the situation I've said, would there be one week to prepare? Why does the final need to be straight after the group stages? The group games would be announced in advance.
Man Utd only had 2 weeks to prepare for an away game in the Champions League this season at one point, and 3 weeks at two points.

The fact that you're digging to find as many excuses as possible, and making ones that aren't even there, are suggesting otherwise. When people start saying "I can't afford it" and "there's too many games that far away" and "I want to be able to afford to go to all games so this would stop me" then it is a case of "my back yard" and "what's best for me".
Local game for local people and all that.

Where have I stated this is anything to do with domestic attendances , it was put forward as a play off series , these normally take place week on week , my point being that at Championship level only a hundred or so travel to Toulouse , even from the best supported clubs , if you were to multiply the games , IMO even less would travel , especially if it was short notice and therefore flights more expensive , the cost of ' doing ' Toulouse with accomodation , flights ,food and even a reasonable alcohol spend is around 3/4 hundred pounds each , I doubt many would do this possibly three times in a month

| I find it interesting that no one's seems to have thought about the part time players/coaches/kit men who might potentially have to get time off work at short notice to travel, never mind supporters?
By the way ridiculous idea IMHO. Le Tornoui might have got a big crowd for the final but no one was interested in the early rounds -clubs included (why do you think L Lynx got to the final?)

Just telling it how it is , at the moment most clubs take no more than 100 fans to any away game at our level , perhaps a similar amount go to Toulouse , I dont think this would increase with a trophy at stake , therefore a final in either country would be poorly attended IMO
As for the benifits to the game , once again I really dont see what they would be I dont think other French clubs playing a handful of matches against Championship opposition would bring on the average French player to any degree , just my opinion , as a fan of a Championship club , your opinion is based on following a SL club , if you want to watch French RL , by all means go to France and watch it

You're not just telling it how it is though. You're telling it how you think it is.
I don't think the away attendance is what you should base a competition on... ever. If you think that's what a competition should be based on, then you might as well watch North West Premier next season as the away fans won't have far to go. Two games in France a season if the Final is in England, and if arranged well they'll be back-to-back so that fans (if they wish) can stay for a week and watch both.
As for benefits of the game, it's not just about bringing on the French players (which I disagree, I think exposure to a higher level more often will bring out new and better qualities in players). It's more about club development and exposure.
I don't see why me being a fan of a SL club and you being a fan of a Championship club has anything to do with anything anyway. Does that make your point more valid? It's like them idiot mothers who think just because they have a kid means they know how to look after one more than someone that doesn't.
