| Players Out - Players In
Gareth Ellis - Robbie Farah
Dave Taylor - Sam Burgess
Alan Tongue - Dave Shillington
Greg Inglis - Beau Champion
Daine Laurie - Greg Bird
So, Burgess gets in without been on the voting but i'm sure most people would of voted for him anyway, Issac Luke would of come in but Farah and Smith are already in at hooker.
NRL team will win IMO especially now Inglis is out, Greg Bird has come in and will play in the forwards as they already have Thurston, Prince, Soward but i can only see the NRL team winning. Should be a good game though.

| While I hope this is a great game, which it will be, I am concerned that if it becomes an annual event it may detract from the superb record of indigenous athletes in playing for Australia at rugby league...
In my view, we still want young Aboriginal athletes aspiring to play for the Kangaroos, to continue our unsurpassed record with A&TSI representation at national level.
Rugby league makes other sports, like cricket and union, look sickly in that regard.

This article also tends to repeat precisely what I said in the post above.
Additional note - 8 of the 11 Wallabies mentioned have rugby league backgrounds.
If Australian union was a type of bread, it would be wallpaper paste white. With no extra vitamins added.

| Not surprising given the traditional eco-social status that the two games have traditionally drawn from.

Nice justification for institutional racism.

Yeah the reality and the evidence clearly show something is rotten in Denmark with union in this regard.
By all means you support it though.
What that says about you is worrying...

You're right, its borderline institutionalised racism.
3 players of Aboriginal or TI descent in Super 14 and two of those came from Rugby League.
Vs
11% of NRL players of Aboriginal or TI descent.
And it has nothing to do with the school system, even though Aboriginals are scarcer than rocking horse manure in Union schools. I played for Liverpool City on the weekends in the 1970's and it was basically walk-up and you played.
Come to think of it, there was only white kids playing in that team and the opposition teams.
It seems that South African Rugby Union isn't alone...

| EA,
I think you are being generous with your inclusion of the word "borderline".
We of course also have a far better record than soccer and RU in England on this score (ie. racial inclusion).
A black man, the wonderful Clive Sullivan, captained the GB rugby league team in the 1972 World Cup (and helped win the Final - on countback! - in the end with his cracking try). Jason Robinson only did the same for English union within the last 5 years or so.
Where did Billy Whiz come from?
(Hint for rah rahs - grab the 1995 RL Challenge Cup Final for a look sometime)

| I guess George Gregan was just a white man blacked up? How many Polynesian descent players are there in S14? Surely if it was a racist sport they wouldn't have had a coloured capt for all those years and they wouldn't be letting islanders play the game? Sometimes the BS on here to have a dig at another code is like being back in the school playground (and I hate RU~!)
