| What a farcical, meaningless game. Quins should be playing Bradford today.

No, it should have been today. The fixture should never have been arranged in the first place.

All of the Championship teams have NRC fixtures this weekend. Surely three points are more important than a friendly? Quite a few of them also played midweek and I expect others will be playing midweek this coming week.

| A decent enough game, but crucially also a decent crowd - now the trick is to try and retain some of the people who came along and get them back, the success of it can only be determined in the long run.
Of course it would have been much better for our sport for today to have been Quins v Bulls, maybe the same 2500 folk who bothered to turn up last year might have done so again.

| Good game, it was all over when half-time came, when Manly walked out with their full 13.
It was stupid of Quins to play there normaly 13 in the first half, against the second-string manly squad, and then take off the normal 13 as Manly's came on.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Sounds like it was reasonably successful from a building awareness point of view , so well done , hope it pays off through the season

Quins started with the same XIII that started at Cas last week, making a lot of interchanges during the last fifteen minutes of the first half. (I think we used 21 players in all, including winger Jamie O'Callaghan who doesn't have a squad number. Manly had the same XIII throughout the first half and made seven (?) changes at half time. I don't know a lot about their players, but those starting the second half wore shirts 1-13, suggesting this was their strongest line up. At this stage Quins had their weakest permutation on the field, Manly got a couple of early tries, and although we began reintroducing some of our better players the initiative had been lost. Manly looked increasingly impressive as the second half wore on and it should be a hell of a game with Leeds next weekend. I just hope the prevailing weather conditions are kinder than in last year's windswept encounter with Melbourne.
