| Quote Budgiezilla="Budgiezilla"A Super League meeting has been called for Thursday where Toronto will outline their reasons for dropping out of the competition and argue why they should not be demoted.
Toronto CEO Bob Hunter will argue the club’s case with Super League considering sanctions for their withdrawal, including demotion.
Hunter revealed on Sportsnet that he will deliver a presentation to clubs in the hope of winning them over.
“We will know probably within a week to ten days what Super League’s position will be on us remaining at that level,” he said.
“I am actually giving a presentation to the Super League board on Thursday to give all the good reasons why we should remain, and explain in great detail why we couldn’t get through this year.
“We’ve talked about getting demoted to the Championship and if we do then we’re going to suck it up and figure out a solution, and get a competitive squad, to get us back to Super League.
“I don’t think there’s any way that in one of those two scenarios [the club won’t play next season
“If the results are more detrimental than that then maybe it’s time to hang up the shield.”
Toronto currently don’t take any Sky money, which means each club gets in the region of an additional £150,000 per year, an undoubted incentive for other clubs. However, the Wolfpack now want a slice of that money.
“We need to be fully participating in television and other revenues, but 90% of those revenues are that deal with Sky.
“That is the critical factor in us continuing.”'"
Kind of concedes to me that they're ready for a demotion. I can't see any other reasonable outcome than this, they've withdrawn themselves, expect other clubs who are in hard times to restart operations, and then expect to continue in the competition next year? NO CHANCE
If they're serious about making it long term then start again, get yourself a sustainable model with an "affordable" team and go from there.

| Leutele was the world's highest earning player on 800k a season i read? SBW on a 4million deal? Deals for Watkins and possibly Myler,Hall and rumored few others? Yet the squad consistently not paid? If the mining billionaire has stopped the bucks rolling in then what is left of that organisation? There must be more to come out regarding the behind the scenes management.

| Certainly getting interesting with the suggestion that they now want a slice of the TV monies, which, much to Donny's delight, would suggest that they have given up on trying to secure their own deal.

Agreed. Would be very interesting.
The prime defence will be Covid, conveniently ignoring all the poor practice and general breaking of all the rules put forward by themselves.
Brinksnanship of the highest level. Write off this season and avoid throwing anymore cash down the black hole. Then rejoin as a full member and take their slice of monies they said they neither needed or wanted on acceptance.
They are gambling the board won't have the balls to expel them or at worst rejoin in Championship but as a member. This with a points deduction is bare minimum surely? Nothing would surprise me however.

| Clubs voting tomorrow apparently.
How can they make a fair judgement. Some chairman clearly despise Toronto. You could get two clubs who are in the exact same situation yet two different punishments due to the chairman "liking" one owner/club more than the other.
What does Elstone get paid for? It should be him and his team making the decision. Looking at the consequences for the sport/SL for each decision made from an unbiased point of view.

Can you imagine if your club or Trinity, jettisoned their overseas signings, saving themselves a fortune and demanded to be kept in SL the following season
They would get the grand 2 finger signal.
What I dont quite understand is that, with the league suspended and knowing that their players were on "short" visas, why didn't they pack them off home, which, one assumes, would have enabled them to play when the season re started ?

| Why in the world should the Championship accept Toronto back if they get relegated? What would they bring?

The whole thing doesn't make sense.
I'd suggest Mr Argyle is a shrewd businessman and as circumstances changed he is trying to force acceptance as a member club after realising there is no money to be made even with the hordes of Canadian fans and he's unwilling to yoghurt another 20million. If they get expelled he walks away and invests in Melbourne.
If the gamble lands then they line up in SL and millions saved. If demoted but accepted as member club then that is also job done and is what he wants/expects imo. They are basically gambling the board will bottle the decision that should be made which is at least demotion and no funding.
