Mate, their owner was/is a $$Billionaire and still is. Their owner always wanted to get into the NRL as he is Australian. Recently Melbourne Storm's sole owner decided he'd like to share ownership and invited David Argylle to go join him there. It was in the Sydney Morning Herald.
They tell us Argyle ran out of money but he didn't. They then tell us that he ran out of cash and his $Billions were tied up in his businesses, but it wasn't. He could have sold shares with just a phone call to his broker. I don't remember Covid shutting the stock market down? A full share of the SKY money is only £200,000 a year. Argyle spent $$30,000,000 on Toronto Wolfpack, he just didn't need the peanuts from SKY.
Read the stuff on the new potential owner, £200K is nothing to him as well.
The SKY money is paid by SKY so they can televise English clubs for their English fans who pay their subscriptions. There is no legal or moral requirement for TWP to get English TV money and if you go back through the archives you can find Eric Perez boasting that TWP will get far more TV money from North American TV.
The lack of English TV money had zero to do with Argyle walking....
