The Mulhern one definitely was, both caused the players to leave the field (and probably miss a few games) and yet not a card in sight. Not saying its a drilled thing, just a bad nasty tackle and on report is just a cop out for the ref. If those games had been on TV Wigan would have been down to 11, as it is they'll have players missing against teams that will be in and around us.

The thing that an opposition fan overheard wane say at an academy match years ago? Not really "proof" that wigan are deliberately coaching their players to injure others
It genuinely disheartens me when fans think silly things like this. Its worse than when people think referees are deliberately biased
I await every single England player to start Cannonball tackling now since its obviously coached by Wane

It generally disheartens me when wigan fans try to deny it happens, especially when it has happened (at least) twice in game just now and both players are copping bans for it.
The first step toward change is awareness. The second step is acceptance.
Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

Its happened twice this season, both players have been banned. As far as i remember it didnt happen last year? Other players at other clubs have also been banned for these types of tackles, but i'd never say those clubs are deliberately coached to injure other players. To suggest that professional rugby league players not only intentionally injure their peers but are coached to do so and have been for years is ridiculous.

| Wane used to make them tackle hard, I'm sure, but I doubt he wanted them to actually injure players. Lam hasn't had time to change habits yet.
Unfortunately certain players such as Flower let the red mist descend too easily at times. I'm sure that afterwards he regrets it but his self control on the field is questionable. Every team generally has at least one player like this. It doesn't make it excusable though and Flower tends to be more aggresive than most.

Yes, other players have been banned for doing it, but it's died out everywhere else, there's only one club it seems to rear it's head at, repeatedly. The club that were doing it so much that the RFL changed the rules at the start of the 2014 season on it to try eradicate it, and yet, here we are again.

| Thankfully we seem to be better at playing rugby than injuring people because if we do train to do it we aren't exactly very good at it otherwise there'd be no players left.

Yeah, Wigan do it that much i can't actually remember the last player we had banned for it. i think Powell once last year? as someone else said above, if we are coaching our players to injure people we are doing a poor job.
Ferres put in a crusher tackle twice in a season, including breaking a players back. Dd anyone suggest he was coached that way?
Was Chris Hill coached to injure players when he got a red and two matches? Was Westwood coached to injure players when he headbutted escare, or when he fractured blake greens eye socket, or any of the many other times he was sent off for punching?
Hull FC keep getting players banned for late hits. Are they being coached to injure the opposition?

| Whether teams are being coached to tackle in this way or not is pretty irrelevant - if the discplinary does its job properly there will be no incentive to coach players to tackle in this way as they will never be available for selection.
FWIW I think Wigan absolutely WERE coached to tackle in this way when it was pretty incessant and relatively new (under Madge), I don't think they are now - I'd say it's coincidental we've seen it twice in one match but hopefully the Wigan players (and all players) take note and we see less of it.

Coached to injure players or coached to tackle 3rd man in around the legs?
